Got the backroom staff busy cleaning off shelves and made them realize the dogs need to be used up.
To supper at Turroff’s- only Bernhard Brooks and Kenny there- both Mary’s sick I guess or mad because Geneva Brewer joined us last 2 weeks?
Home by 7:30 into editing. Finished H’s and bed by 11:30. This project is teaching me to use my time more efficiently.

Barry obnoxious- sat at president’s table all through the meeting so there was no room for Paula Dean the new secretary. Discussion on what kind of show to make for Arts Festival and decided to use the contest themes.

Wedding at St Mary’s at 1. Carroll in and I gave him a copy of minutes condensed. Sent Marj Williams Brandt a bouquet and a copy so she won’t have to go through all of them to write the history.
Lots of funeral work- Laura did $120- $45 was 2 orchid arrangements that should take only ten minutes Tonya $224, Mary $240 and Dave $190! Had no trouble getting out the work with the reduced hours.
Mike refused to shovel snow so I started to, but Mary came out and did it. Dave thought I should have fired Mike.

Mary in with Trinity history and took the one that Gary wrote to finish it. It ended in 1965! Gary had copied it from picture history.

Thursday January 11th 1979 -16 this a.m. up to 10 and sunny.
Lazed morning away until I called bank and found I was $650 overdrawn. Hunted up talk check, Christmas money and dividend check, but still had to borrow $550 from Howard. Took it to Caledonia to deposit and ordered sync cord from Vivitar. Took a walk in the snowy woods. Beautiful sunshine and no wind.
Started on MCHS minutes at 3:30 and worked until 10 excerpting pertinent facts for use at 10th anniversary meeting and for Marj Williams Brandt to use for history of society. Brought back memories, but exhausting.
Watched 1 hour film on China. Not sure I want to go there. Seems so drab- all work.
I called Kathi to tell her I had sent box with banjo-uke and doll. To bed at 11:15.

Slept until 10:15. Kass called while I was having breakfast. Had made a wedding appointment for me for 10:30 but didn’t tell me. It was Mrs. Moore with her last daughter.
Orders for history starting to come in on the order blanks enclosed with bank statements.
Had pizza with Dave, Chris and Faye Garverick- she’s looking rested now.
At 3 Carroll and I drove to 7499 Wildcat Pike to visit Marie English. She had called me saying she would like her furniture to go to a museum and was considering the Marion County Historical Society. Her house is a treasure. Two of the rooms must look the same as they did in 1890. Hundreds of knick knacks, cut glass, hand-painted China, gorgeous Victorian furniture. But Marie is the star of it all. She was without heat for 10 days during and after the blizzard. Her stories of bank robberies when she was president of Campbell National Bank. Late for Wednesday night dinner. Then to Hall-Beck and gave BBB info for MCHS Bulletin.

Dorothy Rutherford in at noon to train for register and front room. Seemed to me she was not learning very fast. Cheryl is very patient with her.
Carroll thought I should photograph Congressman Brown’s visit to the Bowen house so I came home for my camera. Met them there at 1:30. Ron Cross also there- he got the CETA workers for us.
Took Kathi’s Christmas package to UPS, after going to Wiant’s to buy tape. Sent my banjo uke for Davy. I bought it for $5.50 in 1928, money I earned picking strawberries at $0.02 a quart. Hope he appreciates it. Cost $4.95 to send two packages including the doll in the trunk for Kristi’s birthday.
Larry Mathiot called here about 9:30 to get my reaction as MCHS president on the library decision. They will sell it to Trinity for $125,000. Edited until 2 a.m.
