Claridon native Irey Halt (1896-1988) describes the town as it was in the early 1900s.
Irey Raymond Halt was the son of Frederick W. and Mary Schwartz Halt. He was a musician (cello and trombone) and taught music in the Marion area. He founded the Young People’s Symphonic Band and taught private music
lessons.
He is buried in Claridon Cemetery.
