Wednesday January 27th 1999

Into HH for meeting with Jane- she okayed letter to members dues not paid and life members.
Discussed Hallmark articles- had minutes that gave elevator fund as $9,000 instead of $96,000 and HPEF at $156,000 instead of $180,000.
To RC [Resource Center] and made 150 copies of Dues Not Paid letter and 75 Paid Life Members and copied Pride Members application. Call from Fahey Bank wanting 2 copies of After 40 Years so I made invoice and took them over to the bank on my way to upper Sandusky. Met Ray Gottfried at library at 1:30 we had it to ourselves- he has made marvelous family portrait sheets and color copied them.

We discussed Monica Loftin’s lack of follow-through for sending info on Joe Hemmerly’s family – (Josiah? Mactellis).
At 3 we headed NW to his house and he showed me collections of Harley-Davidson mementos and his photo and genealogy file. He has a computer with email now.
Then to Wyandotte County Nursing Home to meet his mother and father aged 97 & 94 Lydia Deyson’s niece & husband (Sanborn’s) were there. Roy had just gotten word that Marjorie Deyson (Hague?) died in May in Florida.- Back to Marion at picked Mary up at 4:45 and to Perkins for dinner- they have new decor.
Left trash at Hemmerly’s and past due letters and labels at Margaret Cottrell- took Mary home. Shopped at Meijer.

Saturday January 23rd
Hair washed and set at Le Salon styling and then to April Honaker’s house again- she apologized but the group does not want speakers- (she didn’t return my request to call yesterday) Said she told them they had to have one speaker but I told her I would not speak to a group that didn’t want a speaker- something fishy from the first. Shopper for cleaning supplies $25.
To RC [Resource Center] Jo Miller in wanting copy of Miller airport article of May 1949- was a series of three so I copied them all for RC file. Bob & ? Goyer in for info on Henry Goyer which we found obituary- Bob helped me copy Scranton Murder stories from January 1919.

Sent David a birthday card and $100.

Thursday January 21st
Interesting Day- Looked through videos for ones on Terradise for garden talk Monday. Found none but enjoyed David and family cooking putting up swing on oak tree in 1990.then found old Horticulture magazines while sorting out slide carousels to use for talk- Bob Harter had wanted them so I called and invited him and Sue up for Sunday afternoon. Mary stopped by with more woes. Auto withdrawal of her insurance premium wasn’t transferred and notice sent to her of “insufficient funds” (because National City Bank chkg account was closed) So I wrote a letter to Westfield Insurance and she stayed for supper of ham and mashed potatoes, apricots and coffee. Started on gardening talk for Monday.

Tuesday January 19th
Got my micron computer hooked up, but moved printer to old computer temporarily. Added letter numbers to the LC book and printed out 90 pages

checked Marion bank and Dave’s first check has come in for $3,000 so we can both relax sent him an email.
To program committee meeting to plan 30th anniversary weekend with Madge [Cooper] and Jane [Rupp].
Then board meeting new trustee Don Alspach and Louie Conkle there.

wonder what they thought of Richard carries presiding I spoke against putting elevator project on hold so vote was to put it on hold for a month. Why does Eula have to take the opposite side on anything I propose when we have $90,000 for the elevator why hold it out to buy the YMCA that may be available in four or five years and hot and wouldn’t be suitable.
Clinton on TV giving away “surplus”
Couldn’t bear to watch the liar- under impeachment and bragging about his “state-of-the-nation”!

Monday January 18th

Spent most of day adding 1883 Marion county history info on 96th OVI to Lucius Carhart letters at appropriate places.

Birds notably fewer and skinnier )they really puff up when it’s cold)

Took computer to Pete Lakaris and waited while he debugged it. Need a Windows 98 boot disk and then a McAfee monkey virus disc (can download latter through internet.)

To gateway smorgasbord for Huber association meeting – (I miss Willis Nye at these meetings – ate with Donna and Dick Lawrence and Dick shared his great-grandfather’s civil war career (Teamster) – No progress, and it is pitiful to see Stan Wink chair a meeting but he deserves the presidency for all he does with his hands. – Don Keil didn’t shovel out a path to mailbox but was waiting for me to call him to help me.

Laverne Lash died of cancer and was buried this morning.

A whole new group of trustees- seem to be mostly steam & gas engine people that I don’t know!- William Kay Davis Trust gave EHMA $5,000 at year-end and have over $2,000 in checking account.
