Thursday, January 30, 1975
Stayed at Kathi’s to help with Kristi’s birthday party. She’s 5 today. Wore her long dress – and all her girl guests had on long ones. Passed gifts around coffee table in sort of musical chairs as a way to open them. Bob still sick in bed. Asked Kathi for divorce! Says every time he looks at her, Steve comes to mind.
Met Karen & David at Mormon Tabernacle to hear the choir rehearse. And they do use microphones so the acoustics must not be perfect everywhere in the auditorium. Toured their new visitor center.

Wednesday January 29, 1975

Bob sick with bronchitis & flu when we got home.
Up at 7:15 to have breakfast ready for David & Karen at 7:30. They arrive about 7:45 for bacon & eggs. David, Karen & I took off for Park City about 8:30, arriving there about 9:45 – Roads clear – no new snow. Slopes very evident, don’t know why I didn’t see them when Kathi & I were here Saturday. 2 large mining-town type buildings new – are at the base of Treasure Mountain & the 4 passenger gondola lift goes 2 1/2 miles – up out of sight. Karen & I shopped & David skiied. Says this is the best yet – Easy way clear from top. Lunch at Deli – Karen & David would like one in market. About 2:30 Karen & I bought gondola tickets $3 each & I really enjoyed ride to top. David left cap & new goggles on gondola. Ate at Steak House. Home about 8:30.

Tuesday, January 28, 1975
4″ snow & roads into mountains bad so we decided to go to Snow Basin which is lower. Very cold there, almost froze my finger taking pictures. Lode very basic – Food & small ski shop. Karen & I had 1 pen between us & nothing to do but write. Snowed all day but sun shone too. David said ice was under the snow. Left about 2 & drove through the valley above Pine View Lake & up to Powder Mt. area. Snowing & cloudy up there. Back to Ogden via North Ogden Canyon. Left films at Inkleys. To Sands for cold roadst pork dinner. Bob showed his European films.

Monday, January 27, 1975
Kathi, David, Karen & I headed for Snowbird & Alta after kids left for school. Thruough Salt Lake & up Little Cottonwood Canyon – much granite, mountain road. Resort at Snowbird very large & difficult to get oriented. Lunch in cafeteria & David limbered up on “Chickadee” slope – very easy. We shopped in ski shop Karen bought navy felted cotton shirt. I lost a glove. David said slopes pretty difficult. Drove up to Alta – saw old mine buildings. Had beer in lodge at Snowbird. Home about 6:30. Bob had emergency & had to work late – 5:30 & so kids weren’t picked up from friend’s house. Kathi decided she better not go another day.

Saturday, January 25, 1975
About noon Kathi, kids & I left for a trip to Park City. Tried to cross from 80N to 80 by 66 & 65, but past East Canyon Lake 65 was closed with snow covered road. Beautiful drive on East on 80 & into Park City. Couldn’t locate the slopes & the town really is an old mining town. Sunset gorgeous as we came West on I-80 into Salt Lake City. Bob had made an amazonite setting for my gold ring & a brooch from the copelite – Dinasaur dung). Watched TV & I did some more macrame hangers.

Sunday, January 26, 1975
Had late breakfast as Bob likes to sleep in & got to Salt Lake airport gate just at 1:10 when I thought David & Karen’s plane was due – but my mistake – wasn’t due until 2:10. Sunny A.M. but cloudy when they arrived about 2:35 – 150 mph headwinds. Drove over to Bingham Copper Pit for a quick look & back to Sands after checking Karen & David in at the Mt. View Motel. Supper here while Bob watched World War II on TV. Karen & David took Kathi’s wagon (my old 71 Dodge) & back to motel about 9:30.

Wednesday, January 22, 1975
Grady’s report for Dec shows $32,000 profit.
Into shop about 9. Connie’s mother & my mother with us to the airport. Just dumped me & luggage & they went back. Good flight – United – From Chicago to Salt Lake cloudy, but talked to an interesting man who buys and sells mineral specimens.
Kathi me me crying saying she has run out of “cope.” Picke the kids up at home where they had gone after their gym lessons. At 3159B Congress Bob greeted lethargically – as if it didn’t matter one way or another whether I came. Their home looks for nice & Davey has loaned me his bed & he’s sleeping on top bunk in Kristi’s room while I’m here. Kids did eat with us.

Monday, January 20, 1975
Had locks changed. Keith had stopped in for his check so I got it ready for him even though he had been off so much the week before that I really only owed him about 20 hours.

To Travel Talk on Yugoslavia – Thayer Soule. Tried to circulate petition – not much luck. Very tired.
