Headache so back to bed until 2. Really lazy all day. Carroll here at 4 to pick up my shop key so he can get folder & return to Roberts office. Beautiful 5″ snow but cold so I didn’t go out.
Pork chops & sauer kraut for supper.
Called Kathi. Bob hasn’t changed attitude.

Manila folder on my desk when I came in. Couldn’t find how it got there. Contained memo from Paul Augenstein & a list on yellow ruled paper concerning a $1,500,000 certificate of deposit that
“a. Ralph said was missing
b. found it Ralph’s desk
c. Can’t write anything down” – etc. etc.
Very busy with funeral work but I left at 5:30 – had lunch with Mother – her neighbor – Robin will bring in supper for $10 a week.
About 10 Carroll called & we figured out that he inadvertently picked up the folder along with things he laid on Ed Roberts desk when we talked to him over the phone in his office yesterday.

At 3:30 8 of us met at courthouse to file petitions (about 3,000 names) at Board of Elections. When Carroll presented them Ray Denzer said “On the advice of Ed Roberts (county prosecutor) & Secretary of State I can’t accept these” He thereby denied us our constitutional rights of referendum. He had a letter dated January 15, 1975 from Roberts with the legal opinion. The group went to Roberts office to get a copy & Carroll talked to Robert over th phone in his office.
Back to shop to regroup our strategy & issue statement for WMRN. Virginia Howard picked me up to go to Delaware – deliver chair to Georgia Leffler & dinner at Buns & hear Senator Proxmire at Gray’s Chapel.

Up early to make my 9:30 plane out of Salt Lake – David & Karen planned to take later one for their Chicago connection so imagine my surprise to look up & see them coming up the aisle. 2 empty seats beside me so we rode to Chicago together.
Mary & Rocky met me in my car & got home about 5:30.

Took Karen & David to “This is the Place” Monument but Karen was bored. Then they went to Ladd’s rehearsal while Kathi, kids & I ate. Then to gas at Salt Lake & beyond. Decided to drive to Nevada – 110 miles! though that barren salt flat area. Weather OK as we started (with a full gas tank) but in some areas was foggy & couldn’t see sides of road. Really a wierd ride. Stopped at Bonneville Flats area. Visited casino at Wendover – going full blast on Sunday afternoon. Stopped at cafe & home in the dark. Lights of Salt Lake & Ogden interesting.

Karen, David & I to Salt Lake to return rental skis. Then to Mormon Genealogical Library. Interesting to find an old Marion directory with my name and to see the records of Mormons who registered their ancestors so they can be saved!
Then to Trolley Square & dinner at the spaghetti house. Early 20’s decor & good food. Too bad Kathi & Bob couldn’t join us. Bob just not interested.

David “forewent” skiing & he, Karen, Kathi, Davey, Kristi & I to Promentory Point West of Bringham City. Small museum there, & the 2 engines & a little track just out in the open away from everything. Interesting drive.
David & Karen visited Ladd McIntosh for dinner. He’s director of Jazz at small University*. They live in SE Salt Lake.
* University of Utah

Kathi, Kristi & I to Salt Lake. Lunch at “Grandma’s” Place a restored area – delicious zuchinni. Then to Trolley Square – old car barns with shops, restaurants, market. Very well done. Got carried away at yarn shop with Macrame material. Out to “This is the Place” monument.
Dinner at Kathi’s at one of the dining chairs broke as I was sitting on it. Bob flew into a rage – berating Kathi’s “cheap” furniture. (She had bought it second hand 10 years ago & moved it 10 times!) Not a pleasant scene before company.
