When I came in to shope Clarence called me to garage. Windows had been broken, but grill held & no entry made. The Dashers* fixed it and put “fake” alarm tape on it.

Friday, January 17, 1975
Kathi’s last day at work was yesterday.
At shop at 8:35 & 5 employees waiting – Keith didn’t show up & Martha late. Took copy to Star for Round About Marion – where people can sign petitions.
Stopped at courthouse & took petitions & picked up memberships from John Cottrell. John Isler cam in & ignored me.
Judy greeted me with news that the $50 change that we carry was missing. She put it in safe at 3:30 but safe wasn’t locked until 6 yesterday. Hope that’s all Keith got.
Same Feder – National Potteries – in. Letter from Kathi – full of complaints of Bob’s treatment of Davy. Type minutes of Historical Society meeting. Called Kathi & Bob to tell them when I arrive.

Wednesday, January 15, 1975
A man came in & asked for Keith – K went out with him. Later he said the main was an insurance adjuster about a missing mobile home from the “Model” show lot. He had all Kieth’s figures. Keith told Martha he had an apt. in Lima & is attending classes 2 nites a week so I told him he could leave anytime.
The bank will assume the $225 loss on our 1/10 deposit if I insist. Picked up 3 airline tickets for trip to Utah. $498 for David & Karen $259 for me.

Thursday, January 16, 1975
Put Christmas cards away. Got film carousels stored. Picked up here & there & found bottom all over the house. Wrote letter to Don* congratulating him on making Major.
Cindy Step called in answer to my note & will be in to start work Monday. $2.10 and hr – 32 hrs a week.
To open meeting about courthouse. Carroll needs to learn how to cut throught to the meat of an issue. Chas. Ludwig there & said he campaigned for County Commission on this issue. $78 donated for fight. Gave $70 to Carrol for his phone bills to date.

Headache – but controlled with Triaminicin & Anacin. To work at 10:30 – Bert Wetzler – Lion Ribbon Salesman in. Clarence [Greer] off so Dave [Woessner] ran deliveries very well. Judy [Kuehnle Etter] ran credit check on KB & found he has 2 bank loans over $2,000 is 3 mo. in arrears on 1. She also pinpointed our thefts as around the 10th of each month. Keith, Laura & Debby all off today. Evidently Keith takes whatever day he pleases. To Altrusa – presented the courthouse story.

Monday, January 13, 1975
David & Karen here until about 10:30 & then we all went into Marion. Visited Courthouse * took Polaroid pictures. Made airline reservations for Salt Lake City – Me – Wed Jan 22 – Them Jan 26. Karen & I to Axthelms & I bought 2 Pendleton Jackets, 2 slacks & 1 sweater – All 100% wool. They left about 1 – Discovered that $120 had been taken from pouch of Cook Book money for Historical Society. Later Nation City Bank called that $225 listed on our deposit was not in the envelope.
To “Yougoslavia” travelogue & passed petitions, but so upset I hardly saw it.

Sunday, January 12, 1975
Picked up mother & then Martha at the shop & headed to Columbus by 9:30. Left mother with Floy & Martha & I to Ohio State Florist Association Short Course. Met Don Johnson & Tom Yazel. Both had interviewed Kieth for jobs. Both said he had “bad mouthed” me!
Good speaker in planning for succession in your business. Jim Vosters very interesting on his plant hunting experiences. Home about 7:00 & David & Karen here. She brought steak & kidney pie for late dinner. We really had a good talk – time. Bed about 1:00 AM

Saturday, January 11, 1975
After a week of Keith flitting here & there & much hush hush talk I asked him what it was all about. He says he plans to marry “Nancy” on April 1, is moving to Lima the first of Feb, will be working at Tom Yazel’s Flowers & going to school for credits so he can be a child psychologist with Allen Co. Children’s [illegible]
Nancy works for that org. I wished him luck, hope with not too much fervor!
