Sunny but cold & windy.
Call from David Mauk – asked for tour of Terradise for his staff Wed about 1:00. Cleaned up garage & greenhouse – sorted out plants to plant but only got a few set out.
Picked up Mary & to Perkins for supper – then to her apt & installed WordPerfect 6.1 with only a few problems. Called Sands to get registration # & how to create icon to access.
Chris Monnier called wanting info on Marion industry during 1940-1970 – will write it up for him. Called Gene Hipsher to get date for cutting beech. Bob Shaw called & I can have the 10′ gazebo he has on hand with screens for $3,200 + tax. Called Sue Speakman at Natl City Trust – asked for $8,000 for gazebo – 2,000 for tuition, for income tax $2,500 – she says wait until July to set up trust as interest is paid then.
Howard Mitchell called apologizing because he still doesn’t feel well enough to help dig plants for open house. His mother Clara broke hip at age 99 3/4.

Open Garden Tour.
Copied Terradise brochure & last minute chores. My car battery dead again but Patty brought their jumper over & when Bob & Sue Hartman [came] he jump started it so I could move it across road. Mr & Mrs Coulter brought yard signs to sell – but only sold one. He left 2 for me.
Bill Hutchman & Opal & Kensel Clutter helped sell & Jane Rupp filled in everyplace. Mary presided at the register on the deck – but only she & Jane bought any paperbacks. Only rose bush brought by Sloboda’s sold so I owe them $4 out of the $270 we took in. Marion Mixers Garden Club came as a group & the only ones I “toured”. Jack Telfer joined the group. While we were down in the woods a front blew in – trays dropped & soon had rain. Don & Mary Alban (McDaniel genealogist descended from Jane) rested in rec room. She bought Tales of Sage of Salt Rock & the Courthouse Book. Mary invited Jane & the Harters stayed for pizza & we had a good talk – all gone by 6:00 PM.

Ed T. Huber & Anna May Schwaderer here from 9:00 to 11:30 trying to verify names for plaques – my info not complete because some receipts were not reported on Cathy’s printouts done at Houghton Sulky – plaque members not presented to me- a mess.
Donnie came about 9:30 & worked until 2:00 – blew driveway clean – cleaned greenhouse walk – put up tables in garage on saw horses – moved plants from greenhouse – burned papers.
I mowed upper lawn.
Pd Donnie $50

Marion Star – Home Section had article, pictures & big headline “Terradise Tour will be held May 4”. It was the story I sent in a year ago! To Marion to pick up saw horses at Hutchman’s – Erma remarked that she supposed I was headed for Kingston Residence as Pauline Davis had told her she was going to Green Thumb Garden Club luncheon to hear me speak – so I went & spoke on Prairies – hope they didn’t realize I had forgotten it!
