Donnie here from 9:00 until 3:30 – mostly sealing upper driveway. It took all 7 5 gal buckets that was supposed to do both driveways – Pd him $75 (included 2 hrs yesterday). He also cleaned up around beech tree.

Mowed river area – made paths through most of area – Ostrich Fern spreading so mowed some of them.
Wild blue phlox & wild geraniums still blooming and wild hyacinths are getting a toe hold on this side of river.

Donnie came to get driveway ready for sealing but rain threatening so will postpone that. Planted maples & ashes in my 21st Century woods.
Into Heritage Hall at 1:00 to meet with David Simmons of TimeLine – Jane had ready most of what he wanted & I showed him C. Meyers collection & his books.
Finished copying Carhart letters. Heritage Preservation Endowment Fund trustees met at 4:00 – Eula Rhoads absent – asked Jane Rupp & Phil Fox to attend discussion brought out the inadequacies of our present accounting system & Jane’s efforts to correct them – Dan Wigton & Ken Vincent suggest they act as advisors only & that Jane & Phil become trustees.
Good reports on funds – 15% growth.
Pollinated pawpaw by road with pollen brought from Rowe arboretum.[*]

Mary & I headed for Sandyville via Wooster & Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center & Secrest Arboretum – crabs bloomed out but enjoyed the trees & how much they’ve grown – hadn’t been there for years – picked up candy for Hemmerly’s at Campbell’s & Lunched at nearby Crossroads Missed 250 exit at Uhrichsville & took extra 45 minutes getting to Don’s cutting our visit short.
Don & Agnes in yard planting a rose bush where they had a white pine cut near the house.
Spent most of our time along road enjoying wildflowers – blue eyed Mary, fire pink, dwarf delphinium – ferns – trillium & more. Home about 8:00.
