Daddy got a car (‘35 Ford V8) from the Ford Garage to go to the funeral. Poor Mary Baker and Uncle Hen. Mary just simply went to pieces. Uncle Hen was ok until somebody new came. Too bad just when they had everything electrical. New stove, iron, sweeper and just ready to buy a refrigerator. Everybody in Forest was at the funeral. Approximately 300.
Mary rather taken with the hired hand- our third cousin. [could this be Loren Baker?]
Car did over 100 miles on less than 5 gallons of gas and does 90 [illegible]

Mother and I went shopping this morning. She got a blue silk to make and I got a blue broadcloth. Wally down for dinner. I guess I was suppose to get it. Mother busy on her dress. Bernard Brooks came after dinner and we just fooled around. Daddy and mother went to Ed’s funeral. About 4:00 took Wally out to see the garden. Bernard Brooks, Rosie, Mary H, Wally and I went on a picnic on the Scioto near Green Camp. Rained on the way. Too sleepy to enjoy Wally tonight.

Wally met me at the bus in Marion. The folks had gone to Uncle Hen’s* -Aunt Effie died last night. Apoplexy. Mr. Ed Bindley died last night at about the same time- heart- Daddy was to take Innis Bindley up tomorrow and bring Ed back.
My plans for a vacation in Somerset all shot. Too much of a trip for Daddy in 2 days.
Wally rode me on Milt’s bike.

Down with Mr. Shelton. Marybelle Crow Rathbone and Rosina rode too. First time I’d seen Mary since she was married when I was a freshman.
Bill says I may have to take my vacation the week of the 4th. Factory closing that week.
Washed and ironed tonight. Wally called. Didn’t like it because I went with Bernard Saturday night.
