Trella Hemmerly – 1980-06-18

Wednesday June 18th
Paris [Romine] has been in hospital a week and a biopsy showed that his shoulder pain is cancer not arthritis, tendonitis or bursitis. Went to see him at Community Med Center. Had a shot to help him sleep and was not coherent. Called Margaret Ann and she said they were taking him to Washington Courthouse Monday for Laetrile treatment. I didn’t realize it was legal.
To Turroffs for dinner. Gladys Mosier there as Orlie is also at Community Medical Center. Infection in foot and toes.
Geneva call with plans for picnic Sunday.

Tuesday June 17th
David called at 11:15 to tell me he had been contacted by Edelman’s Meats to manage their stand in the art deco 1930 restoration of Union Station[Cincinnati Union Terminal]. About four hours a day and he’ll love the atmosphere. He thinks Kass should gradually be given manager responsibilities. Wasn’t surprised to hear of Dave Woesner’s leaving.
Busy day- 10:30 and 4:30 wedding appointments. Talk at 1:30 for retired Public Schools Employees on Marion County History. Straightened out premiums on Van and Hornet insurance.
Board meeting at Bowen House. Judge Myers will be Eber Baker for program June 30th. Voted not to accept Howison Howard bid of $1,600 to redo 7 pieces 1880 furniture. Gave Carroll go ahead on shingles for cabin. They couldn’t make them at Steam Show Sunday.

Thursday June 12th
Used weed trimmer on front and back banks. Had to lengthen monofilament cord about every 15 minutes and Howard had to start it for me. But made quick work of what would have been a week’s job. Mary & Kenny out to see it as they bought one from Sears Saturday $129.
Gary out- has finished painting at Bordeaux $160 total labor.
Gorgeous day. Humidity 39% temperature 72°.
Bath, washed hair, set and dried. Chipmunks nibbled at the watermelon rind I put on deck.
