Baked a nutbread, washed my hair and went to Mary’s for supper but she wouldn’t fix it. Went to last Lecture Course “Sun-Up” – a play- mountain life. Pitiful. At Lil’s afterwards we planned a party for next Saturday night. Stayed [shorthand] Helen’s [shorthand].

A championship while I’m at Harding. Beat Mansfield 19-37 for Co-Champ with Ashland.
Went down to Lil’s afterwards – I mean after we went to Isaly’s. [shorthand] pitiful [shorthand] talked [shorthand]

I should have stayed for G.R. but I went with Mary to have a tooth fixed but they didn’t fix it. We were sitting in car [shorthand] Walt [shorthand] honked [shorthand] jumped a foot. Mary decided not to come home with [shorthand]

All helpers for the play met. Got a few instructions on what we have to do.

Tuesday February 21, 1933
Mary Gracely told me she had been appointed editor of the annual so we must be going to have one. Had a Lit test and did I do awful. Miss Foreman read the 2nd and 3rd acts tonight. I told [shorthand] 6 said 6 knew [shorthand] so attentive. Mary was to have a class meeting but no one came. Tough.

Monday February 20, 1933 Grandma is here again
I didn’t go to school this morning. After 7th period Miss Foreman stopped and asked me to be property manager for the play. Well, that’s better than —-.
Mary came down for supper and we worked jig-saw puzzles & then came to bed. First play meeting after school. Paid first inst. mamma.

Sunday February 19 1033
Went to Sunday School but got sick and Daddy brought me home. Aunt May’s were up. In evening Mary came and held my hand and made me feel good.

Up early. Baked nutbread, etc. Mary came at noon and we fixed my hair, etc. At 5 who came popping in but Bob Johnston. We three went for a drive. He stayed for supper and they went away & M. just got back in time to finish me. Bob H. and Bernard had come with me in my smock and no paint. Lil was with Bob and we got to the City Club about 8:45. Bernard was so courteous all evening. I danced with 3 other fellows. We took a ride afterwards and the car stopped. Bernard and I had to push the car. Well I didn’t make the play. Too bad. Louis said “I’m sorry.” Got the grey dress after school. Went to the Ashland game and we lost. Almost a champ game too. The prelim. was the most exciting I’ve ever seen. Got a coke afterwards. And went down to H’s and talked. B. Pohler asked her to the sweetheart party but [illegible]
