Tuesday March 7, 1933
Went down to church after Bill Phaler and Homer Dutt picked Bea Uncapher & I up. Served for Brotherhood supper. Chicken. Mary got letter from Bob asking if he could have a date with someone else. Tough.

Monday March 6, 1933
How I got 3 A+’s and 2 A’s with 4 errors on all my budgets is a mystery. All banks in U.S. closed for 4 days. Seniors decided on formal pictures & me with my savings tied up. Rushed around putting Candy Sale signs up on all the boards.

Trella Hemmerly – 1933-03-05

Sunday March 5, 1933
Went down to Mary’s after dinner. We talked [shorthand] death, [shorthand], everything. She led in BY according to Rev. Wood. I gave devotions and then we went back to her house for all night. Wrote editorials and talked some more.

Saturday March 4, 1933
Listened to inauguration over radio. F.D. Roosevelt. Lots of people have hope now. Went down to Mary’s and she fixed my hair. Spent the evening reading a guild book on Indians.

Mary says she thinks [shorthand] accomplished [shorthand] Borrowed penny from Genevieve Doring in [shorthand] 99 cents. Spent a quiet evening at home.

Thursday March 2 1933 91 in shorthand test
Louis had two companions today. Had a French test- hope I get better than the last one- 67. Went to Guild Rally and potluck in the evening. Banquet banditte [sic] and a false collection rally for convention. Type in all my spare moments [shorthand].

Wednesday March 1 1933
Shorthand test and a lot of fun with Walt Haldeman. Mary came down as a stopover to go to Pauline’s. About 6:45 Louis came over and stayed all evening. I don’t know what his idea was but we had a good time with jigsaws. Mary Burtch asleep when [shorthand]

Tuesday February 28, 1933 not going to have party- the banks stopped all withdrawls.
Louis stops for me every morning any more. Mother and Mary went to Palace for auto drawing & for a change I really studied. Like I ought to every night. Got 86 in Lit and 93 in History. Doing 25 pages of outline every week in history now.

Trella Hemmerly – 1933-02-27

Monday February 27, 1933 Pep assembly cause we won.
Woke with headache. Went to Herald office 4th period. Louis and Bob Haldeman there. Looked at old Heralds. Had the headache so badly at noon that I didn’t go back. Got better in evening and helped Daddy with jigsaw puzzle. He’s making a great big one for Uncle Gus.

Sunday February 26 1933
Bernard Brooks, Mary Burch & I came up for my books after BY and then went to Mary’s but Bernard Brooks wouldn’t go in. About 8:00 here came Bob Johnston from Shelby. Hitched it, I went to bed. Mary [shorthand].
