Bernard had told Mary last week that he was going to ask me. And he didn’t think I would go. How funny. I went to the debate tonight. He was good- affirmative taxing[?] Upper Sandusky. I’m rather discouraged about my prospect for the play.

Tuesday February 14th 1933
I was called [shorthand] try out 4th period. The Duchess Louis stopped tonight and said Mrs. Foreman said I did exceptionally well. Bernard Brooks, Mary and I gave that play at Rayl Social. Bernard asked me to go to the Hi-Y sweetheart party Saturday night. [ Shorthand]

Monday February 13th 1933
Entirely missed shorthand class waiting to OK The Herald. Sure rushed around. Class meeting about annual, caps and gowns and card and play tryouts to give out after school. I believe the Guild Sweetheart arty was quite a success. I took Bernard or rather he came. It was here.

Sunday February 12th 1933
Sunday School. Bernard Brooks asked me if I would be in a play for [Shorthand]. We practiced at Mrs. Little. Burches we’re here for dinner but Mary went right home. We went for a drive and while we were gone Bernard Brooks and Bob Haldeman came up tough [sic]. Bernard and Bob Haldeman came along to take me home after BY. But I wouldn’t go.

Something Fishy. Marshall must be behind not putting it out till Monday. Louis, Miss Gorman and I all compared notes 8th period and it was all so funny.But I took the play story to the printers after school and made up the dummy in the evening.

Thursday February 9th 1933
5 boys and I were in Herald office 4th period. I heard Bernard Brooks is going to ask me to the Hi-Y party. Hope so. First period Miss Forene [?]call me in and told me what the play[ shorthand] had [ shorthand] act surprised for her. I didn’t make the dummy up. Mary wouldn’t give us the play story and the printer suggested we wait until Monday to put out the Herald.

Worked on the Herald 4th period. At the end Louiss [shorthand] I was surely surprised. Mother [shorthand] church banquet. Mary H and I went to Junior Guild meeting at Annabelle and Helen Uncapher’s.
