Richard Francoviglia called with comments on standing rules. Had not received packet I sent Wednesday night.
Worked all day creating MCHS newsletter with appeal to membership to contribute to buy post office so we don’t have to borrow so much.
Also contacted Marion City schools and Dr. Stuart will decide when I send material about Judge Myers lectures whether to tell teachers about them.
Forgot to watch Inauguration until George Bush was into his address. Also too busy to watch parade. At least he trained to be president. I always felt Ron Reagan was playing a role and Nancy- she couldn’t have been for real!

To the Food Connection restaurant at Caledonia to talk on the Christmas Bird Count. Ruth Clark, Dorothy Kile, Thelma Swisher among those present for the Caledonia Homemakers Club. Someone named Jo introduced me as a very good friend!
Worked all day on material for volunteer training for Huber Museum. Also entered Jane Trucksis corrections to bylaws and just got to Marion in time to correct them and send to Don Beckett for legal opinion and to Local History Office to reproduce for board meeting.
Stopped Huber volunteer stuff off for Willis Nye to take to Bails. Picked up chili at Wendy’s to bring home for supper and began to feel my lack of sleep last night.
Stopped at Freda Raub’s to pick up box of clothing Irene Epler’s sister had given her. Freda is Lucille Foreman’s sister- one of my very favorite teachers. Had her for journalism. The house just east of the Foreman house is the Edward Huber house- moved there when his Mansion was built at Center and Greenwood.

The day we’ve waited for! At MCHS board Charlie Evers announced contract had arrived from US Postal Service for MCHS to purchase Old Post Office building. Board authorized signing I used computer to type up resolutions asking city and county for $10,000 each toward purchase and all board signed them. I persuaded board to let me send letter to membership to raise purchase price and reduce what we have to borrow.
Had supper at Bob Evans with Mary and then picked up Willis Nye to take to board meeting.
At 9:00 a.m. went into class of 1933 breakfast at Isaly’s. Mary Jordan had said she would be there so I passed up chance to eat with Bernard and Betty Brooks- then she didn’t show. Talked with Irma Prettyman Amick and Edna Harold. Stopped at Nye’s to check corrections for the Huber Story. Home and worked on minutes of Edward Huber Memorial Association from last night until time to meet Mary at 5:30.

Couldn’t sleep so got up at 1:45 and finished Huber minutes.

Worked all day on news releases for the Huber Association annual meeting and Museum opening and MCHS program meeting and Charlton Myers’ lecture series and cleaning up files on computer.
Pat Cummins called- she agrees with Bill Nolan that board elect officers. Gave me a tip about the MAAP federal program on museum accreditation that evaluates and provides money for operations if you have at least one staff.
In at 3:00 to meet with George Scantland to evaluate Joe Swearingen paintings. George says no outstanding talent shown. Paint for his own pleasure not kind he would buy.
Back home for supper then and again for Ed Huber Memorial Association meeting. Willis Nye called- not able to go and gave me a list to present! Board approved contract with Ertel Toy to buy 3,000 Cockshut tractors at $25 each advertising budget $1,350!
Willis called when I got home to see what happened. gave me corrections for the Huber story.

Karen baked hot cinnamon rolls for breakfast while I fixed cally ham slices and scrambled eggs. David left early for Hemmerly’s to install SBT payroll program and train Faith on it.
Karen critiqued the OAHSM bylaws with some good suggestions.
Took Sarah into Marion with me to Big Bear to get chicken, broccoli, etc for lunch / dinner. David home at 3:00 to eat and moved cement blocks back to wall along lower driveway. Had used them to prop up Christmas tree. Sam Barkley- Jed’s friend, fever and vomiting but up for lunch. They left at 4:00 and I conked out in bed until 6:30 when Mary called had talked to Vivian [Adams Bratten in St. Petersbur, FL] and first week in February is okay for visit.

John Briley called with excellent comments on OAHSM bylaws. To Reece’s for ground beef for spaghetti and a spice cake mix to make cake for David’s birthday. Cooked until 4:00 when the Haldemans arrived. David back to Marion to install new update for Boyd’s Funeral Home. Played RummyCube. Sam [Barkley] a nice normal boy- Josh and Jed have no attention span.
Sarah is withdrawn from rest of family and cannot take any criticism. Susie is talking and enunciating much better. Matched blocks by color and letters. Boys created an art gallery in the rec room that was very original.

Corrected Huber newsletter in mail from David at noon. Headed for MCH Center and Mary and Willis Nye met me there to fold and stamp after I ran them on the copy machine. Willis mailed them. Mary picked me up and home and with the Jordans went to the Leaf Restaurant by I-71- all had macaroni and cheese and it was hardly edible.

Harry Bard picked me up in his new Chevy 4 cylinder station wagon at 7:45 and we headed for Dan E. Yoder’s south of New Bedford in Coshocton County. He drove 55 on double Highway Route 30 but when we hit the curve on Route 60 he speeded up to 65!
Yoder’s driveway and yard a sea of mud in the drizzling rain. They got a 12 ft plank so I could get into the new workshop. He had the prototype carved model of the Huber HK on the table and we met David, his son who wants to do drawings of Huber machinery for a coloring book to market for Huber Museum. Traversed more mud to get to the house connected to a house trailer as yet I’m finished where we spread out the Huber pamphlets among the remains of breakfast. I wasn’t too impressed with David’s drawings- much like what Dave Decker does. Got stuck twice while trying to turn around to leave. had lunch in Charm and bought popcorn ‘tiny tender’ and cheese at Walnut Creek. Home by 4:00- interesting day, but this Yoder family looks Amish, but their home was not what I expected. David showed us his butterfly and moth collection mounted in a 3-foot by 4 ft glass box.
