Miss Foreman had me tell her how I judged all the articles in the Herald eighth period. Mary asked me down for supper & all night. She fixed my hair again. I typed, she got journalism. Wrote letter to Merlin asking he & Bruce & Bob over for the game.

Read Poe’s “Descent into the Maelstrom” and practiced telling it. Brrr Brrrr.

Cleaned a little before I got ready to go to game. Mr. Wood went on to Granville. Helen stopped to see some people she met this summer. Had to stand at the game. Among the band. Fun. Good game too. Not too easy but we won 19-7. Got Sundae after game. Mary Burtch tried to fix my hair a new way after supper.

Toasted in the New Year with Jordans, Hutchmans & Kathi’s friends, Ken & Linda Rudy.
Watched the Rose Bowl parade. Dave & Kathi sledding in woods.
Tried to interest Kathi in 1870 letters that Grandpa E.M. Sheneman wrote to Lucy Hildreth but she wanted to watch T.V.
Mother in MGH with gall bladder attack. Took her yesterday — very unhappy there.

Dear me I made my dummy an inch longer than the printer counted for so— shorthand 15 word test and Mr Sipe sure had it in for me. Eighth period Miss Foreman sent me to clean out cuts and by time my Herald finally appeared I was so nervous. Even helped deliver it. After choir practice Helen and I got a coke at Tenders. Found that Miss Arth has a new son.

Getting some of my proof run off. Galleys were all set up though so I didn’t have all the material for the dummy. Had to miss G.R. party because of Herald work. Bernard Brooks came down in the evening to help me make my dummy up. Had fun while working. He told some Buerce stories Brrrr.

Can’t get my typing for Herald done but otherwise coming okay. Correcting copy now. Helen and Mary came up to Herald office after school where I was working. Helen and I decided to change blouses so we did. Behind locked doors. Mary came down for all night. Typed for me and was a general help.
