Merganser diving in flooded river. Great Blue Heron at pond.
Duffy looked so peaceful in the box with his beautiful black fluffy tail hanging over the edge. But his eyes were staring and his legs stiff. Must have died shortly after I heard a little moan last night. I’ll miss him jumping up on my lap as I work at my computer. Had started to dig a grave for him just beyond the magnolia tree when Ray Foertsch came and finished. Made it about 2 ft deep. Seems fitting to bury him near where he first appeared as a tiny kitten nearly 3 years ago.
Ray brought back Daddy’s Oak bookstand. He refinished it and replaced missing back slats. Piece is a good example of mission style furniture that is back in vogue. probably about 75 years old. Daddy made it when he and mother were first married.
Printed out 30 pages of notes to go with Uncle Will’s newspaper account.
To post office to pick up five video tapes Audubon Birds- played tape IV – perching birds. Had post mistress adjust the postal scales I bought at auction.

Back home to pick up projector and slides and dress for talk tonight. Met Mary at Isaly’s for her birthday supper. Took a basket of potpourri and rose to renew scent for her gift.
At 7:00 joined University Women in Isaly’s back room and talked on Marion County prairies using
1819 surveyors notes and slides of Prairie plants. Well received.
