Routed all morning “Mother-in-law day” orders!! Something FTD dreamed up last year. Wall wedding at LaRue. Short boutonniere- no hair pins- no BB in mother’s corsage. And a two layer cake for 200 people! Barry helped deliver in Mary’s car. Then 35 funeral arrangements. Bob Ruth among those who died. Ate supper at Perkins Pancake house and home TV and bed!

To mothers before work- she has bloodshot eye.
Big rush for mother-in-law’s day Sunday so I took hospital and south country delivery and funeral flowers to LaRue. 60 miles in 2 and 1/2 hours. Took Pizza to Mary’s- mother there too. Kathi called- Steve probably on way to Connecticut to hospital near Inga. At 6:35 decided to go to movie “Death on the Nile” Agatha Christie. Movie photography and projection is fantastic compared to TV. In mail had letter from Kathi- Kristy being tested for gifted child program. Thank you from Margaret Kuehnle and book on grasses from Jackye Shuck. Read it all. Great.

Thursday October 19th 1978 temperature 55 impatiens frostbitten top.
Howard helped me make bed for ferns in front of brick wall of house [sic]. Also planted variegated vinca from pots. Went to our back woods across river to get more dirt and picked up walnuts. Weeded cotoneaster on front bank and pruned it. Read old histories to get references to prairie. Area in Scott Township was known as the “green sea”.

Wednesday October 18th 1978
Supper at Turoff’s with gang after a day at the shop that went like a whiz. Then to Marge Williams’ home to see what they need for setting for her wedding. Then to Al and June Tozer’s with all the photos people had left to be copied. Such nice work rooms in basement. Al does the cabinet work. Such a perfectionist on the photocopy. There until 12 had date coffee cake.

Judge Charlton Myers in to tell me he could not be editor of history.
Took my Ethan Allen table up to Bowen-DeWolfe house about 1 and found that Carroll had done nothing toward getting it ready for meeting tonight. Swept while Mike delivered and at 4:15 took Gayle and Diane, buckets, rags and spic-and-span up and washed the chairs -50 years of dirt-, window sills, mopped floor. Back at 6:15 for finance committee meeting and had all but there for meeting. Asked Hal Boncutter to be editor. He worked on sesquicentennial history.
