Donnie here & sprayed with weed killer all the walks & patio. In to HH about 1:00 – showed Jane text for markers. She showed me our treas record of the $15,500 at Marion Bank – was restricted funds – suggests leaving it there & deposit future funds in it – this removes it from operating funds.
Charles Halverstott from VA in. Mary Jo Baker got out lots of M.A.G.S. material to show him & I called Vera Mae Smith Seckel for him.
I transcribed Lu Carhart’s letter of April 15, 1865 – Battle of Pleasant Hill – remarkable account of battle.

To bed at 9:30.

89° – sunny.
Wakened by call from “Reflections Day Center” – “Are you coming to talk to us about the 40’s?” Got there in 1/2 hr in time to have lunch with 4 adult day care participants – took Mother’s diaries of the 1940’s for very informal reminisce.
Stopped at HH & set up appointment at 4:00 with Dan Eblin & Dick Carey to finalize his bid on new computer.
Got gas on way home @ $1.129 per gal. Wrote up minutes of HPEF meeting – on way back in gas was $1.069 per gal. Eblin & Co owners of LGE gave good presentation. Dick suggested upgrade for office computer & OK’d that & 2 17″ monitors with 2 computers came to about $4,400.
Jane, Dick & I met Mary at Tim Horton for supper. Back to HH & Jane checked my Sec’y books kept in Resource Center – found source of 15,000 “lost” & “found” at Marion Bank – Restricted funds – Publication – Memorials –
Board meeting usual petty objections but did get Blockhouse marker OK’d from Memorial funds.
Got home & found that sometime (probably AM) Chessie got out – just before I got up to go to bed he appeared at deck door. Picked up David’s birth certificate at City Hall & mailed to him.

88° – Felt more pep than for a couple of weeks.
Gazebo delivered! – Mary came out about 10:00 while I was setting out a flat of apple blossom impatiens in patio bed – but no delivery when she left at 12:00. I paid bills & watched for it until 3:40 when I called & reported no delivery – walked out & there he was – a nice young man who looked about 16! But he managed it! Using winches, jacks & rollers! Donnie came over in time to help put screens on, place cupola on top – $3,162 & our first house only cost $2,000!
Called Bill Schertzer & he will contact Tim Fryman at Tri-Rivers about laying bricks. Jane called about making decision on computer – Eblin beat other 2 – by about $2,000 on 3 units. Donnie finished sealing the driveway & watered pawpaw trees across road – they have leafed out nicely. I intended to go to River Board but too exhausted.
TV good – channel 34 – Ireland – last episode (7) of Murphy Brown – & 50 yrs of Ed Sullivan – so many memories of those programs – Beatles – Elvis Presley – Supremes – first programs in color in 1965.
David called – needs a certified birth certificate for his passport application.

Chessie got out through greenhouse & later she came back in 2 hours later she had made her way back up through the house with a house wren in her mouth which she proudly presented as I sat at the computer. I picked her up – wren still in her mouth – it escaped in kitchen but he recaught it in the window. I carried him outside & made him release it – and it flew away – to continue singing as I had heard it earlier – I hope!
Mary out with bean salad she made & brought panoramic pictures we took at Don’s & David’s.
Jane Rupp called saying she gave me the report from Marion Bank on the $15,000 deposit MCHS has – I didn’t think she did, but while looking for it got all my MCHS current files sorted out.
Mowed upper lawn & front area across road – mosquitoes out but not while mowing.
Nose dripping again. Started reading John Phillip Sousa’s auto biography. [actually biography by Paul Bierly]
