Worked all day in perennial bed digging out daisies & dame’s rocket. Have wheelbarrow piled high.
Planted red geraniums (from last year’s plants at HH that spent winter in a tall box) along far edge of bed.
Wrote to Keith & Helen Lamb.

At HH – Pete & Dana there all afternoon – my Resource Center & office computers had “monkey virus” in them – got rid of it & transferred info from hard disc – Had to work on Foxbase-FoxPro & Family Tree Maker – there with them until 6:30.
AM – Donny & Ray Foertsch here – couldn’t remove 2 x 4 from under gazebo but constructed a step so it’s easier to get in – also cleared the screen door for easier access –
Paid Ray for the lock & installation from last summer.

To Uniglobe Travel Agency with my final plans after HH duty went back – paid for Charter air fare $2,200 & Land Rover $1,800.
Howard Mitchell in to HH with descendants of Luther Smith that he wrote for 20 of his books – had omitted 2 names! – but it was the people who wrote the letters in the book – Hattie Hammer & Luther Smith – Howard’s great grandparents.
Peter & Dana of LJE Computers came in & worked on network.

Slept until 10:15 – potted up geraniums in “porch box” for cemetery – mixed pot for Mary’s porch – hanging basket of purple wave petunias – peppers & tomatoes in patio pots.
Reading “Everyman’s Garden” edited by Rosemary Viley that I got in England in 1983 – using “Atlas of National Trust Properties” to locate them throughout England – studied English wildflower book to bone up for trip.
Transcribed Civil War letters – mowed upper lawn.
Watched Mark Russell & Terry Waldo on Public Television.
Talked to Ruth Carhart – told her of my fascination with Lucius Carhart letters & plan to fix a notebook for her with the transcriptions – she will be at Riverside next week for hip replace of a hip replace.

Car would hardly start when I headed for Marion & time with Kass & Pete to pick their brain on touring Ireland – to Global Travel & asked them to check out Brendan fly/drive Bed & Breakfast tours – had photo made at AAA for passport.
Took car to McDaniels to check battery – had to leave it so called Mary to chauffeur me for rest of my errands. She took me to courthouse to apply for passport – to HH to check on acid-free pockets for Civil War letters – saw Jack Telfer in parking lot with newly leased Chevy pickup truck.
Up to Etter’s (Kuehnle) Garden Center – Greg in charge in his electric cart & oxygen tank – great plants – had sandwich at Wendy’s & picked up my car – $90 for battery & $50 for putting in in! – I’ll go to a filling station next time!
Called Ruth Carhart & report on Civil War letters. Called Bill Schertzer to check on laying bricks – hadn’t talked to Tim Fryman – He called back – Be 2 or 3 weeks.

Slept until 9 – bath, washed & blew dried hair- bfst – e-mail to Kathi & Kristi & played Kathi’s Memorial Day message. Got air fare by e-mail.
Worked on Civil War letters from noon until 5:00 – supper – TV “San Francisco” & “Assembly Line Revolution”.
Only out doors to hang up & take down flag & bring in newspaper.

David & I had bfst in Gazebo – he took off for funeral – home client in Sandusky – transcribed Lu Carhart letters. In to Marion for Huber Family Picnic (I had a special invitation) before the mortgage burning program. John Watkins gave me due credit for my efforts during organization! – met Don S. Huber of Moline IL & introduced him to Don L. Huber via the Timeline article.
Home in a rainstorm. David arrived back about same time & Mary out for supper. Called Helen & Keith Lamb & surfed net for air fares – David left about 6:20 – Tornado watch but no touch downs in Marion Co.

Donnie here – cleaned up bed beside gazebo & planted hosta in it – sawed lower limb off Bradford pear – burned papers.
I made bean salad & baked beans. In to Mary’s about 2:00 & Dave (alone!) arrived about 3:00 – he fixed Mary’s computer problem – put WordPerfect icon on desktop & made addresses accessible.
Then I showed him “Past Perfect” disc & Jane had loaned me. After loading he was excited about possibilities & remarked on the likeness to his Terrapro accessions – said at $500 go ahead & buy it. Ate at Bob Evans & took drive & visited Judy Etter.
