Went to Sunday School but got sick and Daddy brought me home. Aunt May’s were up. In evening Mary came and held my hand and made me feel good.

Saturday February 18th 1933[ shorthand]
Up early. Baked nutbread, etc. Mary came at noon and we fixed my hair, etc. At 5 who came popping in but Bob Johnston. We three went for a drive. He stayed for supper and they went away & M. just got back in time to finish me. Bob H. and Bernard had come with me in my smock and no paint. Lil was with Bob and we got to the City Club about 8:45. Bernard was so courteous all evening. I danced with 3 other fellows. We took a ride afterwards and the car stopped. Bernard and I had to push the car. Friday February 17th 1933
Well I didn’t make the play. Too bad. Louis said “I’m sorry.” Got the grey dress after school. Went to the Ashland game and we lost. Almost a champ game too. The prelim. was the most exciting I’ve ever seen. Got a coke afterwards. And went down to H’s and talked. B. Pohler asked her to the sweetheart party but [illegible]

I was called for second try out for eigth period. I did my darndest but with Martha Miller and Jeanette Evans mimicking, I don’t know. M & I went uptown afterwards and looked at dresses. Louis came over in the evening and type [shorthand]

Bernard had told Mary last week that he was going to ask me. And he didn’t think I would go. How funny. I went to the debate tonight. He was good- affirmative taxing[?] Upper Sandusky. I’m rather discouraged about my prospect for the play.

Tuesday February 14th 1933
I was called [shorthand] try out 4th period. The Duchess Louis stopped tonight and said Mrs. Foreman said I did exceptionally well. Bernard Brooks, Mary and I gave that play at Rayl Social. Bernard asked me to go to the Hi-Y sweetheart party Saturday night. [ Shorthand]

Entirely missed shorthand class waiting to OK The Herald. Sure rushed around. Class meeting about annual, caps and gowns and card and play tryouts to give out after school. I believe the Guild Sweetheart arty was quite a success. I took Bernard or rather he came. It was here.

Sunday School. Bernard Brooks asked me if I would be in a play for [Shorthand]. We practiced at Mrs. Little. Burches we’re here for dinner but Mary went right home. We went for a drive and while we were gone Bernard Brooks and Bob Haldeman came up tough [sic]. Bernard and Bob Haldeman came along to take me home after BY. But I wouldn’t go.

Something Fishy. Marshall must be behind not putting it out till Monday. Louis, Miss Gorman and I all compared notes 8th period and it was all so funny.But I took the play story to the printers after school and made up the dummy in the evening.
