Wednesday March 19th
Planted the Marigolds in the pot I brought to Aunt Ruth and put the rest along the edge of the garden. Uncle Allen says the snails will eat them so he put Snairal around. Took pictures and then put in black and white and started copying old pictures from album. After bacon and eggs lunch I typed for 2 hours- my journal for mother while Allen took his nap. Over to Helen’s about 4- a 20-minute drive on the freeway. Her double mobile home is so luxurious and she has the set of plates “Partridge in the Pear Tree”! She drove us to Knott’s Berry Farm. Browsed the basket shop and then had the chicken dinner- three pieces, rhubarb, salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage and ham, boysenberry pie and coffee for $4.98. We all brought chicken home in “people bags.” Browsed through the stores got a steamer colander and some candy. Wisteria blooming beautifully. Got a heavy box at Helen’s to pack some of my acquisitions. Home about 10 and to bed.
