Sunny 79
MCHS 2 hr
Huber 2 hr
Lee Jones of Jones Blacktop came about 11:00. Estimate of $50 to repair sides of blacktop along new walk & timbers. In at 1:00 to meet Huber Board at old Race Motors Bldg. 15,000 sq ft for $190,000. I think too big & too much. Revisited Lincoln Mercury Building next to Trinity & it looks better & better. I suggest we offer $75K for it. To HH to run more Reg II announcements & leave not to Jack about news release not mentioning MCHS – only Heritage Hall – Quaintance in to leave pix & p[laque. Supper with Mary & then to Kensel Clutter’s to get 30 kinds of prairie seed – chorus frogs calling there & at Irey’s pond.
Returned Geo K Brown’s call – he feels I’m not a ‘Team Supporter’ – yet when he went over my list of ‘concerns’ he had to agree with me on every point. Another case of Jack’s ‘sicking’ [sic] his henchmen on me instead of talking to me himself. (See Mch 21) = Picked bokay of daffs from the 200 blooms under white oak. Planted prairie seed along lower driveway in brick in soil hauled from flood pile up. Mowed upper lawn.

MCHS 2
Waited all morning (at computer) for Delmar Brewer to show up. Finally came at 11:00 & in 2 ½ hrs he drove steel fence posts behind rail fence posts to straighten them, rototilled the area along S. side of lower driveway (after I removed tulips, black-eyed susans) top get it ready fo plant as a prairie. Also rototilled an area across road for a vegetable garden. Cleaned the edges of upper driveway & helped fill in ruts that Roy Foertsch missed. So I felt $22 was a bargain – He is really a worker.
In at 2:00 to meet Quest Club members at Heritage Hall for tour of Wyandot Popcorn Museum. Geo. Brown told history of collection & of each machine. Really more than even I could digest. Dick West back a little subdued from Gall Bladder removal & peritonitis.
Met Maary at 4 & we went to Peppers for dinner. Her 72nd birthday.
Had chimichangas & fried ice cream. Had chimichangas a year ago in Texas for her birthday.
To bed at 7 – & right to sleep.

Royce here to clean – Welfare!!
Pat Cummins called concerned with Reg 4’s new Reg Rep – Weustner of Canton wants the job but everyone agrees he’s a bully.
Wrote to Dave & Dee. Kristi & Kathi & David. Sent copies of my proposed will to last 2.
At 2 Tabor Allison brought about 15 of his Botany Class for field trip across river. Tree identification from buds – & then hike thru flood plain & then point survey. Identifying & measuring trees in a 150’ circle – but everything is metric – Found a cache of owl pellets under large honey locust & among these a bird leg bone with a blue bird band around it! ASlso spotted Harbinger of Spring – Spring beauties blooming & sessile trilliums plentiful on flood plain – also garter snakes.
Watched Kathi’s tape of Kristi’s receiving Levitow Award of Airman of the Month at Castle AFB in Nov. Their visit with Dave & Dee & caving & trip to (Feb) lake to see Eagles – So proud of Kristi’s achievements.

MCHS 2
Bill Nolan called about slate of officers – He would like to see Jeoff Stokes become president with John Briley VP to take over when Jeoff can’t. But that won’t happen. Told him of Jim, Oda’s proposals to change By-laws to have Reg Reps take office upon election. That isn’t practical because retiring RR’s have committee assignments
Finished board minutes – Wrote to JHed about his story of ‘Nightingale’s Castle’ – Kathi about her video tape – David about expanding his business. Told him to go to his stock holders – other than me. (Turns out I’m the only stockholder interested in keeping TCS afloat.)
Geneva & Delmar Brewer out. Delma has retired & will work for people doing yard work. At first he said he didn’t want to drive 24 mi round trip but Geneva insisted he see what I wanted done. So when I offered him $10 and hr – he said he’d be back Thurs. Tomorrow Geneva is having a pump implanted to send chemotherapy into her system to fight cancer now in her lung.

MCHS 2
OAHSM 4 hrs 200 miles
To Columbus at 9:00 for Exec Committee meeting. Site managers of OHS also meeting, so talked with Herb Gary in hall.

Back to Marion to take labels to Margaret Cottrell – She feels the proposed enshrining of an altar at Heritage hall in memory of Pres Harding is a slap in the face to every Baptist. John is church historian – with dates of Harding membership 1884? – Treasurer-Trustee – Trinity minutes (Landes) officiated at funeral – has pew decorated with fresh flowers – church open to mourners. So why enshrine an Episcopalian altar?
To Court House – Found Harding’s will – He left $2,000 to Trinity & $1,000 to Episcopal. Mrs. Harding left $2,000 to Epworth Meth. $2,000 to Trinity & $2,000 to Episcopal – Dr. Wolfe’s (through Klings?) were Episcopalians.
At Engineer’s office got copy of aerial photo of Terradise – 1 inch = 400 feet
Stopped at Wendy’s for chili & frosty – brought home to eat. T.V.

Callwed Richard Francoviglia at Local History Office for infor & called Pat Cummins to verify she was not coming – April 27 is her 65th birthday & her kids are converging on Youngstown to celebrate.
Wrote Progress Report for Marion Star EHMA & MCHS.
Called David to see when the daily wold be coming – & they won’t – he got gig for 3 to 6 Sunday PM so even tho kids are off Monday it didn’t work out. He thought my letter to Tom J. Wagner showed remarkable restraint.
