Trella Hemmerly – 1980-02-24

Sunday February 24th
Picked up the four boxes of bouquets, aisle cloths, candelabra and give away books and was at Sutton’s by 11:45. Laura and Mary helped lay cloth, put up garland and bows and candelabra. Everything went beautifully. Mary at sales table, Laura passing out bouquets Tony pinning boutonnieres and me photographing. Finished about 4 and took box of bouquets to mother’s so she could see them. Not too interested. Always the same “I get so lonesome.” “Why would I go to Mary’s new room. No one is home there. They eat out all the time. Mary has changed so since she married Kenny. She doesn’t have time for me.”

David called saying business is bad and he needs $1,000. Is going to have the stamp collection (Ray’s that I gave him) appraised and sell it. Didn’t appreciate the instructions I sent for rolling film- notes from Don Novatny’s talk at Camera Club Monday.
Wonder if he would need $1,000 if he hadn’t spent $500 for his Canon AE-1?

Tuesday February 19th
Had supper at Ponderosa before going to board meeting of MCHS. Had to call Big Red Quick Print to get a key since I left mine at apothecary on Sanibel Island. Effie ask that Carroll turn in his key since he left a candle burn out on the mantle and had left the door unlocked several times when he worked up there. Board voted to write him a letter asking him to leave key at Hemmerly’s. Also voted to pay the $200 in gasoline bills he has spent since the Log Cabin was moved. Board had already paid $100 for the move. But the letter will ask him to return credit card to Hemmerly’s that he has been charging on. What if the board knew that there is a $2,300 discrepancy in funds on the Old House Cookbook? I found it when trying to determine expenses and receipts on it. When I was at Mildred Grigsby’s she said the whole group was completely fed up with Carroll dominance of that project!
Called at funeral Home on Mr. Kenneth Albert Geneva Brewers father.
