Saturday November 23rd 1935
Bill went to Michigan to the football game so I said I would come in and get caught up on my work. Wally came down about 11:30 and helped me. Quit about 1. Went to Hamburg shop for lunch. Bought collar $1 Lazarus- shoes Gilbert’s $2 -pattern for blue silk $0.15 Kresges. Nail brush, hankies, shoe strings, soap. Had a nap after I got home. Wally, Louis and I went to the State- “Two for Tonight” “Old Man Rhythm.” Walked around in the cold afterwards.

Trella Hemmerly – 1935-11-22
Friday November 22nd 1935
Wally called at the office about 3:00 so I’ll be staying. He and Louis met me after work and walked to Broad and Third with me.
Got a letter from mother. She said Mary’s baby cried and I happened to mention it to Davis’s. Mrs. said 7 month old babies didn’t cry. So for once in my life I talked back and did it make her mad!
Wally came down about eight. Laura showed him for wedding presents.

Thursday November 21st 1935
Mary’s baby was born yesterday afternoon. Wally sent me a special. Baby weighs 5 lb and is in the incubator.
From Wally’s letter I don’t know whether he is coming down or I’m going home. Wrote him and mailed It about 7:00.
Listened to Rudy Vallee program.
Grandma is staying at our house now and Aunt Lillie’s are coming for the weekend so well he will probably come down to avoid the rush.

Wednesday November 20th 1935
Well Wally finally got it. Mill practically shut down so he gets a layoff for about a month.
Listen to radio. Actually got to hear “Dangerous Paradise.”
Bill says it will be okay for me to be off Friday after Thanksgiving.

Tuesday November 19th 1935
Finished letter to Wally this noon. Told him I would like to stay down here this weekend. I hope he agrees.
They fixed my typewriter so it doesn’t stick. Simple if you know how.
Bill had me make up copies filled out of all the forms we use. He thinks it’s to show the big shots how good we are. He is, I mean.
I’m putting green down side of strips now. Bath- Bed 9:30

Monday November 18th 1935
Was I ever glad for 5:00. Took the bus down this morning 5 minutes late stomach ache from hungriness- headache and then had to type figures all afternoon.
Cut out green for my quilt about 100.
Started letter to Wally. Am turning in now 8:30.

Sunday November 17th 1935
Sunday school. Mother and Daddy went to Uncle Hen’s but we three kids stayed home. Had a nap. Took a typing test. Made 42 words per minute. Bernard & Rosina down after BY. Listened to Major Bowes amateurs. Sang old songs. They didn’t go until about 11 so I lost more sleep.

Saturday November 16th 1935
Up 8:30. To Kissel to finish filing my tooth. Walt and I both banked $10 a piece at the National City Bank & Trust. Miss Snodgrass gave me some wrappers for my pennies. Ohio State beat Illini 6-0. All five of us went to Bindley’s for turkey dinner. Really very nice. Walt, Mary and I skipped out to see “Rendezvous” -William Powell & Rosalind Russell. Walt and I didn’t get to bed until 2:00. Mary Burch Johnson here all afternoon- started up town in the rain.

Friday November 15th 1935
Stopped at hamburg shop for a bite before getting bus. Slept all the way to Marion. Ran to catch mother just as the bus pulled in.
Got out my blue-green tunic to rip it apart and try to make a blouse out of it.
bad about 11:00.
Wally in about 1:00 and woke me up for a minute.

Thursday November 14th 1935
My Xmas savings is completed now $12.50.
Letter from Wally. Still don’t know if Daddy will be after me tomorrow.
Listened to Davis’s radio. Every time I got interested he tuned in another program. And so to bed!
