Tuesday July 6th
Watered everything. Knocked trillium corms out of pots that I dug to send to Keith Lamb. Paid bills. 1/2 inch rain while at Heritage Hall to Marion at 3 p.m. took Hemmerly Corporate Book that I had sorted out. Dumped trash. Picked up key to duplicate (Kathi misplaced mine), deposited Hemmerly bonus check $5,432 and DBY sales $182. To Exec committee not much business. Jane got grants from County and City to do exterior painting.[illegible] $13,000 bid. Virginia Howard Ill so I took notes. Richard Carey ate with Mary and me at Bob Evans. No word from David and they left Linda’s today.

Monday July 5th
Do nothing day. Slept until 9:30 watched Antiques Roadshow at 8 p.m. after printing out some of the wedding pics from computer. Reading “The Country Farmer” by Gene Logsdon of Wyandot County.

Sunday July 4th
Bob slept until noon. Kathi to church with Mary. Mary nauseus and people got paniced[sic] & called call 911 so down to Emergency Room where she had an IV but okay. Brought her to Terrradise about 2. Kathi packed and they took off in their rental car about 4 for 7 p.m. flight to Las Vegas I drove Mary home & got her settled and home again.
Between all this Judy and Dave and Matt and friend came and put all 150 chairs in garage and cleaned up everything.

Saturday July 3rd temperature 94 degrees sunny
Dave Haberman and boys out at 9:30 to set up chairs.
Gave Darin and Jen the china doll and cradle of Mattie Clore his great-grandmother that Ray had.
The big day finally arrives. Don’t know how it would have gone if Kathi hadn’t helped greet people, parked cars, take videos etc. She was great and Helen came! Kept her in air condition living room while 150 guests assembled on river bottom. Matt Harberman forgot ring and ceremony delayed 15 minutes while everyone sweltered. Reverend Isaac stood on Uncle Roy Hemmerly’s whetstone to perform the ceremony. Very informal. Darin and Jen greeted all guests in aisle as they left their seats. Punch table at bottom of steps by greenhouse. They persuaded us to go to Brown’s Party House for reception. Bob at Mary’s- for NASCAR races rental.
7 p.m. and then out here at 8 on my TV. Grandiose buffet I forgot to take digital pics I had taken time to print out. Talked and ate with Bender from Escanaba Michigan. Judy Hoffman’s family.

Friday July 2nd
Pulled clothes out of closets and Kathi helped me go through them but didn’t put many in disposed of. Mowed yard areas. Got a good pot roast supper but Bob Mary’s TV and didn’t come out to eat it. Had been there all day. Watch Kathi’s video of wright Brothers playing in a cardboard box. 150 folding chairs delivered and stacked in garage. Contacted David by phone at Linda and Pat parameters in Alameda.

July 1st temperature 87 degrees muggy 1” rain

Really put Royce through her paces. Worked with her and really cleaned rec room- she just hits the high spots when she cleans there. Just finished when Margaret Ann arrived. She’s lost so much weight- Helens cancer is taking a lot out of her too. Helen* probably won’t be able to come to wedding.
Haberman’s Minister and three boys arrived at 1:30 with about 20 folding chairs, 2 palms, 2 large pots of ferns. Finally decided on spot with audience facing into woods! After all our work getting the terraces below the house so pretty. Talk to Jennifer’s brother Chris and ??- buddy’s of Darin from Denison University. They live in New York and ??? works at New York Times and considers Brent Staples one of the big shots- Surprised I had worked with him on research in Marion. After they had left thunderstorms with 1” rain. Call from Kathi at 8:30 saying they were at Findlay and would be here in an hour.

Wednesday June 30th
Started about 9 a.m. gardening and worked with Don from noon until 3:30 pm. He burned pile by compost and put up flag pole holder on front porch. Vacuumed all around the house. I dug dead grass out of walks. Don sprayed with 50% malathion and wedding area for chiggers mostly.

Tuesday June 29th
Kathi and Bob left about 10 for Sue Fry’s and arrived at Sue’s cottage about 6 p.m. taking back roads. Don Keil here made flower bed at the “Snowflake” bed by the river using artismia and begonias a dollar for a flat on sale at Meijer. I set out geraniums before he got here. Don also made circles around all the little trees planted on bottom land and installed pump and fountain in pool. After he left I mowed for 2 hours and got even across the road done.

Monday June 28th
Bob completely tired out and slept until 9:30 a.m. Kathi was up at 6 a.m. and ready to go to Michigan by 8 a.m. but they decided not to go and give Bob a day to rest! So I didn’t take plants to the fairground as planned but good to have more time with Kathi. In to Marion but I didn’t go to program meeting at Heritage Hall but took Mary Jordan with us for dinner at Michaels. Shopped at Meijer with Kathi and bought flats of begonias and Artemisia + 6 more geraniums $16 total on sale. Started on rec room moving out superfluous stuff.

Sunday June 27th
I went with Kathi and Bob for church services in Mary & Art Gruber’s tractor barn. Packed with 150 class of ‘59 Harding only about 20 parents there. 3 class ministers gave inspiring talks. Talked to lots of people and sold 4 DBYs. Picture with members of my Mark Street girl scout troop.
