Saturday July 25th 1970
Drove through hurricane damage areas before leaving. French quarter of New Orleans. Carriage ride to Wax Museum. Decided not to fly home until tomorrow. At Sheraton St Charles Bourbon Street at night! After cocktails at Top of Mart.

Thursday July 23rd 1970
Feeling some better but not out of house much. Enjoyed watching kids play and meeting Kathi’s friends. Not up to the coffee she had planned. Loan kids $400 to buy VW squareback.

Friday July 24th 1970
I babysat Davy and Kristi while Kathi did errands. To officers club “Beefeater’s Room” for dinner with Sandra and Fred and then to their house to see Turkish rugs, furniture and Lebanese jewelry. Kids at next door neighbors until Sunday.

Wednesday July 22nd 1970
I was sick all day! Diarrhea and finally vomiting. Slept in between just utterly exhausted.

Tuesday July 21st 1970
Up at 6:15 limousine to Acapulco airport. Beautiful drive. Customs at Dallas very cursory. Paid $3.20 duty. Isabel flew onto Marion and I to New Orleans and then Gulfport. Shopped with Kathi and Don.

July 20th 1970
Hired a Jeep with blue top and we cruised Acapulco. Morro Beach and vendors. Lunch at Beach Restaurant and swam in PM at Hornos and P.??? Next to it. took glass bottom boat ride on Lorena from Colita. Dinner at la Perla and watched divers.

Sunday July 19th 1970
Taxi to bus station no room to Acapulco until Monday p.m. so to airport and got 3:00 p.m. plane for Acapulco. Met Mary Garcia while waiting. At the Motel Acapulco were flowers and champagne from Kathi remembering her birthday 29 years ago.

July 18th 1970 Saturday
Parade prep all along Juarez. Mailed packages at post office and shopped at sanborns. Back to Alameda Park. Had missed parade – president was there! Took bus to University. Ciubierto at Yoye’s for 30 pesos shopped at Sears. Home in downpour. Bull session with MacDougall’s

City Bus to Tobica Bus Station. Kay & Art MacDougal & Isabelle & I “Get off”! Toluca Market is something. Everything for sale & no English spoken. Lunch at Hotel in Toluca. Had octopus. Pouring rain as we got back to hotel San Francisco.

Thursday, July 16, 1970
Breakfast with Jean & Red Mier & then to Dr. A on Shakespeare who replaced cap for $5. Moved by taxi to Chapultapec Castle to Hotel San Francisco on Luis Maya. Poor room view but clean. Walked in area & ate at Jewish restaurant – Ugh.
