Wednesday, May 28, 1975
Conference at 8:30 after breakfast in room. How to increase sales – Insufficient Dollars spent for advertising. Lunch. Lack of control of cost of goods sold.
9 of us in my wagon to Windsor, Ontario for dinner at Mario’s. Fettucini prepared at table. I was guest of Glen Davis of Cumberland, MD. Then to Little Bavaria – good accordion but no Gemutlichkeit! Home about 11:00.

Tuesday, May 27, 1975
Packed for FTD school in Dearborn, Mich. In to work at 11. Pile of complaints on desk. Kathi had done research on them, so cleaned up quickly. Made arrangements for Isabelle Stump to get Historical Society mailing out by Thursday. Planted marigolds & artificial geraniums for Mother. Picked up my Dodge – air conditioner fixed. Kids to Schultz & Mitchells. Kathi & I left about 4:30. Stopped in Carey for cookies. Arrived Dearborn Inn about 8. Kathi reconnoitered – I stayed in room.

Monday, May 26, 1975
Memorial Day
Woke at 11:30. Set out impatiens under vibernum & by pond.
Potted hanging pots of petunias & marigolds.
Mary, Rocky & Mother out at 4 for picnic, Kathi, kids & Barb Jamison at 5:30. I fixed chicken. Beautiful evening, but ate inside. Bard & Tom getting a divorce. He’s the chilly one! Kathy says “Another Don.” Very tired.

Sunday, May 25, 1975 Record temp 93 Shower about 8 PM
My kind of day. Slept until 10:30 – Breakfast on deck. Set out pink petunia plants around boulders on front bank, white petunias along pool. Called David to chat.
Started macrame hanger for Mrs. Basel.
Howard & I trimmed trees beyond shack. In that small area are basswood, hickory, elm, ash, oak, seedling walnut, beech, cherry & box elder & planted apple, red & white pine & laurel oak.
Kathi & kids out- had strawberry short cake & ice cream & then to back of acres for boxes of dirt for along her driveway.

Saturday, May 24, 1975
In at 8:30 and got Connie checked out for 10:30 wedding. Then I went to setup Berean Baptist & see if they could use a center basket as planned. They could. With Jim Shultz to Chapel Heights with fresh grave bouquets. Then back to Berean Baptis for Bader wedding. Hot. Sold out on $3.50 pompom bouquets & glads, but pretty quiet after noon.
Stopped at Kathi’s for supper. Collected 2 places on way home – $25! Watched Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” on TV.

Friday, May 23, 1975
2 weddings
2 proms
$2,000 on cash register.
Took constitution amendments to Hall-Becks for print.
Took watch to Walker’s for repair.
Grady Barnes called an order in so talked to him about incorporation. He said new tax laws make it best deal. Called Carhart’s office for appointment – June 1.
Kathy & I to cemetery to finish plantings & deliveries. Accident at corner of Vernon Heights Blvd & Delware Ave really tide up traffic. Had to get postage meter filled to finish mailing billing. Over 1,400 statements!
Shop jammed all day with kids in for prom stuff. Jim Schultz helped deliver after school.

Thursday, May 22, 1975 Temp 88 again
Betty left for Detroit. Mary took her to bus at 2. I stopped in at noon to say goodbye. She had about talked Mother to death!
Dave Hempstead with me to cemetery to dig for plantings. After Everett from Westpark finally got in with combination pots & geraniums. 20 I had ordered from Morrison didn’t come in.
Kathi brought kids to shop at 7:30 & went to plumbing school at Wolohan’s & I brought them home with me. They played so nicely.

Tuesday, May 20, 1975
Kathy on the job at Hemmerly’s trying to learn everything in 1 day! Had new brakes put on her 1971 Dodge wagon. Got garbage disposal installed at 418 Merchant & other plumbing checked. We went to bank to put her name on checking account so she can write business checks. Picked up deed to 418 Merchant.
Board meeting of Historical Society met here at 7:30 – 13 members present. Carl Rieger called during meeting. Esther’s brother Raymond died.

Murphy’s plants so small I can’t use them for combination pots.

To Kathi’s for pot roast supper. She has things pretty well put away.
