Ruth Ruhlman died in Community Memorial Hospital at 3 PM. Greg Etter set out 13 hemlocks on top of bank in front of house. Betty & Marian Frazier visiting Mary. Supper at Kathi’s & Kathi, Mary & I went to Marion Little Theater “Bell, Book & Candle”

Tuesday, April 27, 1971
Cold! Down to 24 & up to 58. Had supper alone at Humpty Dumpty & then gave flower arranging talk to 25 adults & 25 children at N. Main PTA

Monday, April 26, 1971
To Kathi’s for supper & stayed with kids while she went to hospital to see Grandma Ruth. She thought she knew her but not much response. She is paralyzed left side & blind left eye. Clot in brain.

Sunday, April 25, 1971
Cool but sunny. Mary & Rocky out for water & started small mower. Battery down on big one. Mowed above pond. Kathi & kids & Hutchman’s out PM. Hobart had 4 kittens last Friday.

Saturday, April 24, 1971
To visit Peggy Mack in 5 living room home on Old Hickory Lake – Then to Montvale – Antebellum home. Left for home at 2 – 2 stops – supper near Richwood Ky – Home at 9:15. Was at Kathi’s when Olgua called to say Grandma Ruth* had a stroke and not expected to live.

Cloudy & cool but Tommy Hemmerly took me to his purple cone flowers in Cedar Glades. His work for Doctorate thesis. To Creekwood – estate & Harry Hemmerly’s* new office buildings & to see his boat on Old Hickory Lake – 36′ long sleeps 10.

Thursday, April 22, 1971
Picked Mother & Mary & Loren up about 8. Stopped at David & Karen’s – Patio well under way. Freeway except about 15 miles north of Nashville. Frances & Jessie Mai still great people. Slept with J.M in high 4 poster. Talked until 2:00 AM.

Wednesday, April 21, 1971
Etta cleaning. Finished planting trees – 2 persimmon, etc. Colder – about 50 – Little rain PM. Hair done, Kathi’s for supper. Packed for Nashville trip, Called David in Cincinnati.

Tuesday, April 20, 1971
Gorgeous morning about 65. Bob Carver finished painting. Set out 20 Australian Pines – 10 or so Norway Pine – Autumn Olive. Took delivery to Elgin – 10 doz yellow roses & then to Prospect. Gave flower talk to University Club at Lena Bain’s.

Monday, April 19, 1971
Beautiful day again but need rain. Gave flower arranging talk to FHA at Pleasant. Took Kathy as my guest to Burroughs Club dinner. Carl Knirk on their trip to Europe.
