Mary Jordan called early to tell me not to talk to Bernard Brooks about his marriage. He had talked to her and even resented my asking Betty if she had been married, if she had children and where she worked and lives! So I guess there is no hope for him. Mary is heartbroken. To mall to pick up the things.
Very busy today I had three wedding appointments- answered phone- waited on customers.
Mother’s TV will cost $226 to repair from lightning damage. Actually only $146.
Took meat loaf and watermelon to Mary & Kenny’s and they had ear corn and peas to go with it. They don’t think much of Betty. Mary happened to mention Geneva Brewer and Betty really bristled.
Camera Club met at shop because Rec Center locked up. Bill Jun Knalis [sic?] is moving to Cleveland. Has house for sale on Siesta for $67,000. He gave me picture of school bell he took out here.

Byron Smith* waked me at 8:30 saying he & Marcella were in Mansfield at a motel & would like to come see me. Were here before 10 & had coffee on the deck. Byron retired but has a consultation services for the citrus industry. Helping setup a plant in Korea. Took them to see shop. They left at 12 for Yeager Reunion in Crestline.
Had meatloaf & coleslaw made in my new blender for lunch.
Took a two hour nap after trying to identify mushroom out of the yard. Hope I didn’t sample an amanitea muscari!
To Jordan’s at 8 to meet Bernard’s fiancee- Betty Erskin. Tall frizzy blonde. Works in County Health Dept. Mary J. gracious but her hands shook as she served 7-up to toast them.
They left at 10 & Mary kept me till 4 telling me why this is all wrong for Bernard. He has a $40 room for their 3rd Div [Corwen? -illegible] & since Kenny got married- he has no one to share it with!!! So he decided to get married- he said.

At Southland twice at booth.
But the news of the day came when Mary Jordan called & asked me to come over tomorrow night to meet Bernard’s fiancee Betty somebody who left Trinity to go to Prospect Methodist to be in Bernard’s Sunday School Class at Easter. Mary obviously upset because Bernard has never mentioned her.

Rode around Cincinnati from 1 till 2:00 looking at houses. They need more room, but will probably build on.
Stopped at Virgil Wilson’s* Mariemont. He’s been to China & redone his studio in Chinese. Has 65 flute students. Nice 30 min. Visit.
Stopped at Lazarus on way home & still couldn’t get the cutters for my blender. Had to have the base to get the right one.

To David’s – arrived about 2:30. Sarah had a fever of 106 yesterday so her birthday party with the Meisters was an effort to get it down with cold baths etc. She was still peevish today.
Had her present opening after dinner. Not one word said about the $50 deposited for her. I sent the card so she got it & it was on her door but when I asked Karen if she got it she just said yes & nothing about the money. Took her a box of books that I got with the Britannica Encyclopedia for kids – on color – numbers etc. No thanks for that either.
David showed the movie of their Western trip. He has real talent for interesting composition.
