Kathy Brooks and Margaret Kirk in to plan flowers for reception they are giving Bernard and Bettie on August 5th. Kathy called him Tuesday night to ask if he had made any premarital arrangements for his children. He said he couldn’t ask Betty to sign anything to protect their interests. The poor boob.
Took wedding (Leatham) them to Nazarene church and there were the Noggles with flowers too. Mrs. Leatham had not said anything about an estimate but didn’t bother to call us when she ordered elsewhere. It’s Laura’s responsibility to see that something is paid on every wedding before she starts on it.

Got to shop just in time to see Bernard Brooks leave with the flowers. Girls said Bettie came in with him- who doesn’t trust who?
Met Mary and Carl Jordan at Perkins for dinner. Avoided the subject for a while but when I introduced it Mary was glad to get it in the open. We all feel betrayed that Bernard thought so little of our friendship.
Mary and Kenny at the wedding and there left on trips to Eastern Canadian provinces.

David called with news he had sold H.M.Snoot ‘n Hoof for $6,000. He had $12,000 in it plus what I had given: walk-in refrigerator, cash register and money! It was an expensive lesson.
Kathy Brooks, Bernhard Brooks daughter-in-law called to talk about flowers for reception for Bernard and Bettie on August 4th. But she really wanted to talk about the marriage. Allen is crushed. She didn’t realize the legal implications and says she learned that he doesn’t have any property and a mother to support.
Finally got the mailing out to Historical Society members and Ellen Pratt came in and helped on the one to mall contestants. So I got it out also. Mary Jordan in to plan where to eat tomorrow night and I think she wanted to talk but too many Interruptions.

Howard went with me to photograph prairie flowers along railroad tracks. Conrail has put up a sign: “Notify district superintendent before spraying or grading”, so our protection is working.
Meat Loaf and chicken, corn and apple pie. We’ll have things for all week.
Gathered clematis, fleabane, roses, Coreopsis, flowers and lots of foliages to press for pictures. The iron press that Daddy gave me is gone. Hope David has it.
Howard helped me finish the mailing for the Historical Society members and collate the letter to contest enterers at the mall who didn’t win a history for guessing how many we’ed sell.
Paris and Helen stopped by to get the dope on Bernard Brooks. Helped me take paint off the chair Kenny gave me.
