Trella Hemmerly – 1979-08-06

Monday August 6th 1979
Took pictures of Gates and Erma at Hutchman’s and got two rolls of film to Bill Snider at the Star by 9. He used the one of the boys with the front of the cabin on front page and I got photo credit!

To Fairgrounds and set up books and Society display. Paris and Helen in about 5 and we priced flea market items until 6 when I went to Hutchman’s for dinner- all garden vegetables- delicious. Gates in at 7 and Chris Everhart and we priced the handicraft items including $75 worth of Howard’s baskets.
Back to Fairgrounds to put away stuff. Home at 10.

Tuesday July 31st 1979
1,178 histories bought.
Mailed 278 letters to Historical Society members about Fair activities. Larry Mathiot of WMRN called me for an interview about our activities.
Bought tickets for Reno- couldn’t go on Wednesday September 19th so made it for Tuesday September 18th. $252- fare goes up tomorrow.
Pat brought quarterly reports to sign and without even showing them to me Cheryl signed them and mailed them. Sales tax reports showed only $10,000 sales for June. A $20,000 error. How could she be so stupid!?
Kass and Faye planned a brunch for Mary Welker without even consulting me. I begin to feel like the invisible woman. I wonder if they planned to invite me?
Forgot meeting of Country Store committee until Leota Gates called me. Went in during rain. Everything seems to be in hand. Erma’s great.

Monday July 30th 1979
Terry and Diane off to go to Cincinnati Reds game so I delivered.
Took mother with me to LaRue at 1:45 & on all deliveries until 4:30. She seemed to enjoy it.
Chris and Mary really turned out the work
Howard finally mowed front lawn. He also cleaned the bank down to the burning spot so the myrtle has a chance again.
Mice running all over the kitchen and traps don’t catch them.
Weeping groom today- He had come from Germany for wedding next Saturday and bride- Zahn- had called it off and it was all paid for- so we refunded their money!

Saturday July 28th 1979
First two weddings OK but while I was at Brown House doing reception at 2:50 at a call from Laura saying the wedding we had scheduled for 6 p.m. had been changed to 3 p.m. but the bride forgot to tell us!
Mary and Terry dashed over with it and when I got there at 3:20 the bride and groom were kneeling on our kneeling bench, candles lighted and everything okay.
What a weekend.
