Trella Hemmerly – 1977-10-28

Friday October 28 1977
Big leaf fall last night but still a few trees showing gold.
Carroll Neidhardt in with sketches of Bowen house and word that the Historical Society may get a years free rent of the second floor if we pay for the 3 second story windows. About $400. Later called to say Laiply will adopt his plan. Called all board members for meeting in my office and they voted unanimously for it.
Serviced wedding at 6. Unpacked shipments and made nine corsages.
Bowen House restoration accepted by Laiply and board of historical society. Freeman here a.m. to fix TV. Now there’s no color on any channel! Before it was only 10 that was bad.

Trella Hemmerly – 1977-10-25

Tuesday October 25th 1977 – 65
Carroll Neidhart called me yesterday asking me to take picture of first Bowen house at 294 East Center Street as workmen were there. So I went down before going to work and started photographing. Told the workmen about history of house and they let me go inside. Mr Laiply of Big Red Quick Print has bought it. So I called Carroll and he is going to contact him.
Took pumpkins, scarecrows and leaves to Altrusa meeting. But didn’t stay for dinner because of foul-up last month on my reservation. Tired so I went to bed early.

Trella Hemmerly – 1977-10-20

Thursday October 20th 1977 – 50°
Howard and I started at 10:30 (still foggy) for Columbiana County. Hard for him to go through Canton as his wife Elizabeth died there in 1932. Went to Washingtonville where John Zimmerman took up section 34 in Green Township in 1807- 640 acres $800. Found the graves of his son Peter and wife Sarah. John and Anna also buried in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Then to Lisbon but only had an hour at Courthouse. No birth records before 1868. They don’t know what happened to them! So can’t find John Conrad Hemmerly’s children. Howard didn’t want to go back through Canton so it took us 4 and 1/2 hours through Dover, Millersburg, Loudonville, etc. 300-mile trip. Want to go again for overnight. Found Haldeman’s listed!
Color gorgeous all over Eastern Ohio- Sunny after fog lifted until noon.
