Trella Hemmerly – 1977-11-07

Monday November 7th 1977
Up at 7:30 and dropped things off at shop on my way to Columbus by 9:25 in good time to meet American flight number 300 on time at 10:20 with Edgar and Sonia. Took them to Engel’s where I introduced to Bodie and Eloise who does their buying. Toured greenhouses. Stopped at Ponderosa for lunch. Sonia slept on way home so decided not to go to shop. Walked in woods a little, but started sprinkling. They took a nap while I got supper. Had pork roast and dressing, mixed vegetables, pickled beets and apple cobbler. Edgar showed his slides and then I showed one tray of mine.

Still no word from Edgar so I got out correspondence about 1:00 and found telephone number of friend of his in San Francisco. Called him and he had just talked to Edgar and gave me that number. So I called and talked to Edgar and they will be in Columbus tomorrow morning about 10:30.
Cleaned the car out- worked on rec room some. Ate odds and ends from refrigerator. Paris and Helen stop by. They went to Sandra’s funeral. About 25 there. Cleaned more after they left. To bed exhausted about 12 midnight.

Two big weddings and big receptions. St Marys. Took Tonya with me to help set up. Haubert reception at Kennedy Hall and family friend had made champagne especially for the wedding. He shared a bottle with cake lady and me and on an empty stomach it left me a little wobbly.
Unpacked Randall shipment and got most of it shelved before leaving at 5 with Mary and Rocky to go to Jordans. BBB there and he drove to Columbus. Had a leisurely dinner at Peacock Village. Eight different dishes- fun and delicious. Home at 10:30 pm.

Tuesday November 1st 1977
Called Paris this evening to invite him and Helen for buffet dinner next Tuesday for Edgar and Sonya. He told me Sandra* had died at 4:20 today and will be buried Thursday. Daddy died sixteen years ago today and was also buried on my birthday.
Dave Woesner has drawn up plan of shop and who should design what for Christmas open house. Got the big display box out of garage for Christmas things. Also two shelf displays that I bought at auction which he doesn’t like.

Sunday October 30th 1977 – High 63
Gorgeous day!
David called at 8:30. He forgot to set clock back and thought it was 9:30. I may go down next week for a historic preservation conference.
Howard helped me plant bulbs under apple tree by shack and under the cotoneaster and Charles viburnum, ixia, puschkinia, Cilla, crocus and April Tears Narcissus.
In to shop to get balance of bulbs not sold and boards to make stable for hand carved creche.
Sorted shingles that I got from Bowen House and took to mother’s to store. Picked up chicken and coleslaw and ate on Deck. Bill and Erma stopped by. Bill got genealogy info in Pennsylvania for five generations and pictures of tombstones.
