Trella Hemmerly – 1933-04-11

Tuesday April 11th 1933
Rayl Conyers thinks “old Wollum must tell you everything.”
And today it’s raining and cold. Miss Turney bawled me out in her impersonal way for not having the bulletin board changed. Walt* gave me some jelly beans and we had fun. Louis stopped in after school and said I was chairman of the picnic committee. Been reading 1930 – 31 play.

It’s beautiful out today. In Lit we acted out “Nathan Hale” with Bernard Brooks as Hale and me as Alice. Got out the 7th period & went to depot with Uncle Jim and kids “good-byes”. Mary Burtch got proofs for her pictures and we got cokes. I was at her house for supper and all night. We went to library after supper.

Sunday April 9th 1933
Eleanor Godey* [sic Gohde] and I went to Sunday School and then we were all at Grandma’s for dinner. 29 people. The men all tried to see how far they could jump and we kids went for a ride. Joe, Helen, Mary and I came over here and played cards. Joe and Eddie here for supper. Louis went to be with with me and we had a nice time while others were at Grandma’s.

Uncle Meck’s* came last night and they and Grandma and Mary and I went to meet the train. But he wasn’t on the right one so we waited for the next and Joe and Eddie was with him. All here for supper and we kids went to show. Herman & Gatha’s came and we had six extras here for all night.
