Saturday April 15th 1933.
Got a new pair of plain black kid pumps. And some hose.
My head has big bumps all over it. Daddy got his two Mary’s and me great big Easter eggs and mother got us a bunch of stuff. Mary Burtch came down about 6 and we giggled and had a good time. She says she likes my permanent but it hurts.

I made NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY. Miss Brown told me third period to go to room 10 after school. I supposed that was it and Louis told me at noon that it was. Mary made it too. I went to Mrs. Bodner’s at 4 for my permanent and she pulled so hard it made me sick. I stayed at Helen Sheneman’s all night.

We’ve been going to the Chapel Services every morning. And they haven’t announced the National Honor Society yet. I’ve got about all my typing done but it’s still a mess. Got nearly all my history report finished.

Made 50 words per minute in a typing test. Mary Burtch came home with me and did we ever write a class song- for the waste basket. We went over to Aunt Ruth’s this evening and I made a date for Friday at 4 for a permanent. Mrs. Bodner. Nice again but some chilly. Helen and I traded jackets.

Rayl Conyers thinks “old Wollum must tell you everything.”
And today it’s raining and cold. Miss Turney bawled me out in her impersonal way for not having the bulletin board changed. Walt* gave me some jelly beans and we had fun. Louis stopped in after school and said I was chairman of the picnic committee. Been reading 1930 – 31 play.

It’s beautiful out today. In Lit we acted out “Nathan Hale” with Bernard Brooks as Hale and me as Alice. Got out the 7th period & went to depot with Uncle Jim and kids “good-byes”. Mary Burtch got proofs for her pictures and we got cokes. I was at her house for supper and all night. We went to library after supper.

Eleanor Godey* [sic Gohde] and I went to Sunday School and then we were all at Grandma’s for dinner. 29 people. The men all tried to see how far they could jump and we kids went for a ride. Joe, Helen, Mary and I came over here and played cards. Joe and Eddie here for supper. Louis went to be with with me and we had a nice time while others were at Grandma’s.

Well I finally asked Louisto the G.R. party. Of course he’s going. Mary Burtch went with me to pick out a dress and I got a darling powder blue one. Helen and Jim came down about 9:30 but I didn’t get them to improve Louie’s dancing. He stuck around till about 12:45.
