Friday May 5th 1933
The last Herald and it was only such a little while ago that- oh well. Went to Mary’s after school and she waved my hair. Got a note from Walt. “Yours lovingly”. Bernard Brooks, Micky, MK, Pauline C. & Eliz. B. here for LS League play meeting and they don’t like the play.

Thursday May 4th 1933
Up in room 31 this morning and I received a formal invitation for Wednesday from Rayl. G. R. installation service in gym after school. D.J. Elliot is new publicity chairman. BY party was so dumb, but I got an invite to the senior dance. Bernard Brooks. Quite a triangle A-MEB+BBB. stayed all night at Helen’s.

Wednesday May 3rd 1933
I don’t know whether I know I’m going with Walt or not. We’re having quite a time about the L. C. picnic. Practiced for the G.R. induction 8th period and Miss Foreman invited me to a sort of party the 1st period journalism class is having next Wednesday. After school Mr. Brooks spoke so queerly to me. Oh dear. Studied French, shorthand, wrote poetry, ironed, ate popcorn and then read Stickfulls [sic].

Tuesday May 2nd 1933
First Bob [Haldeman] tried to persuade me to go with Walt. But I went to class and refused him, but after seeing how he took it, I said I’ll go. Then up to Lit class and Bernard Brooks asked me when I told him I was going with Walt he asked Mary. 8th period I talked to Miss Foreman about a job at the Star. Not much encouragement and we talked about Louis. And so to bed. Cleaning my room.

Monday May 1st 1933
Walt finally asked me to go to the prom with him but I think I’ll refuse though he is terribly cute. Louis stopped in and we traded rings. Then he was over this evening and helped me mow the yard. He suggested a show but I was tired. We just talked [ shorthand].

Sunday April 30th 1933
All skipped Sunday School. I drove Uncle Perry’s car. Swell car but I made a mess of driving it. Just before we left we climbed all over the gorge north of Akron- so pretty. Coming home we took byways that were almost as pretty. Mary and I nearly had a fight but we escaped.

Saturday April 29th 1933
After sleeping about a third of the night morning came. Mary Burtch came about 9:30 and waived Mary and my hair. We left here about 12:30 and got to Akron about 4. Took trip through “Big Bug” section and Sand Run. Just spent the evening.

Friday April 28th 1933
And now I have Walt’s ring. Mother and I looked at bedrooms suits after school and I don’t like them. Wrote some poems about Bob Haldeman. Sappy like his. Such a dull evening. I wish I had some excitement.

Thursday April 27th 1933
Got my ring tonight. G. R. election, Ruth Turner president. Mary was getting fixed so I took her ring to her and then she came down but went home again. [shorthand] heard [ shorthand] afraid [shorthand] so sappy in Lit today.

Wednesday April 26th 1933
Well anyway all he did was apologize all the way to school for leaving like that. I mowed the yard for the first time today. Mary Burtch made a date for her permanent. I’m giving that to her for graduation.
