Trella Hemmerly – 1933-07-13

Thursday July 13th 1933
Nothing doing! Painted an old dirty chair a cheerful green. I hope it doesn’t clash with the grass. Played solitaire in the summer house this evening and exchanged words with a boy supposed to look like Walt. Made a cute blouse at the total cost of about $0.10 10:30.

Just one mess after another. I helped Mrs. Wiant with the games at the Sunday School picnic and then after supper Glenn and I went after Walt and picked Mary Burtch up on the way and didn’t get back in time. So there you are. And Glenn and Mary had to walk home.

Trella Hemmerly – 1933-07-10

Monday July 10th 1933
Some of the these days are surely dull. Practicing and reading are very invigorating exercises. Mother and Daddy found out about Walt taking Doris to the show so I suppose I’ll have that to put up with now. Helen took me out to Mary’s and we just talked 10:05

Trella Hemmerly – 1933-07-08

Saturday July 8th 1933
Mary stayed for dinner. After everybody left I cleaned up, practiced and read a Van Rine mystery. Walt called me after supper about 9:15. He was at Mary’s and I found out some stuff and finally hung up. About 10:30 he came whistling and we got lots of things straightened out.

Trella Hemmerly – 1933-07-07

Friday July 7th 1933
And so to Glenn’s wonderful play “Sono Vagan”. Tense and dramatic except where the pulled the curtain too far and we find Bernard Brooks and Glenn picking themselves up. Mary has been here since afternoon and she and Bernard came home with Walt. J. Rosaline Mansu is giving me piano lessons. $0.10

I don’t know what I do with my days but they passed. Finished my ironing. Walt came down and we fought. Then went to the Marion* “Dangerous Crossroads”- very thrilling. Fought some more but we didn’t mean it.

Met walt up town and we went to “Gold Diggers of 1933”- peppy, funny and songs. Bought a swagger suit at Samilson’s and then went down to Mary’s but it takes her so long to get warmed up I didn’t get car.
