78-97 – hot!
Picked up Eber Baker beans at Youngs who took them home last night. Took them to cabin at Fair. Helen Geyer & Helen Clingenpeel volunteers not interested in giving out samples. Mrs. Chambers had moved her baked goods table even with the door leaving little room for people without blocking door.
Helen Kaufman picked me up in front of mother’s house & we arrived at John Green Cemetery about 11:50. Tool video shots & got Charlton reading Declaration of Independence. Taped present day James McClain in fron of his War of 1812 ancestor – also James McClain and then found his wife is Ruth Hemmerly McClain – daughter of Harold, son of Henry son of Conrad Jr – son of Conrad & Margaret the immigrants. We will exchange info. They were there with Jerry Sams – Fanny & Floy’s friends. Nice picnic with Cottrells & Helen. Talked with Rita Erickson & Madge Guthery. Stopped at Fair & picked up bean crock pot. Home & retreated to my air conditioned bedroom. Watered some late evening.

Stopped at Heritage Hall to copy Heritage Hall [sic] to give to exec committee for critique. Delivered 27 copies of Kind book to John Shoemaker at Dresser. To Fair at 1:00 – I was supposed to be there at 11:00! (lost my datebook). But no big rush, even though it was Ladies Day. Bake sale brought in about $100 – Took crock pot of Eber Baker beans but not really done until evening. Grocery shopped on way home.
