Ray Foertsch & Brenda here from 10:30 to 3:00. Laid 6×4 timers along s side of lower driveway. Cut bittersweet vine & cleaned bank above burning pit. Hauled dirt from laying 6x4s to fill ibn ruts Ray madke with his truck. Burned limbs brough down by 40 mph winds last night.

52/69
7 Mallards on pond – only 2 females
OAHSM 3 hrs
Dean Hazard, Peg Hendricks & Lori Stephenson out at 9:00 – First looked at SW corner post in Ralph’s meadow from the road. Then drove around to SE corner & walked back thru woods on old road. When they saw the part of woods not included in survey felt that Tabor should make decision. He’s out opf town – spring break –.
At Richard Francoviglia’s request sent him the text of my OAHSM 1989 award. He also said he hadn’t received my autobio – couldn’t find it on computer so gave me the opportunity to rewrite it. Took it & my income tax to Caledonia PO to mail.
Talked by phone to Dave Shieley about tax consequences of gift of Terradise. Could be from $1,000 to $2,000 a year. Both decided a reversion clause in case property not used as a Nature Center, is worth more than that.
Planted more grass seed in woods & covered with bale of straw flood washed in.
David called – wants to expand his staff with secy & programmer. Needs at least $20,000 to expand – and can’t continue as he is now – working day & night.
Called Kathi at Dave’s for report on her day at sea on the cruiser Gridley – Fantastic – sunny but 16’ swells.

Eula called to say that the 3 show cases from S. Kleins were moved to HH at her expense – JT had apoplexy!
Ray Foertsch out & started hauling wheelbarrow loads of dirt to fill ruts – but started raining.

In at 6:00 to meet Mary at Campus Pizza for Lasagna – Then to Marion Garden Club (which the male members still refer to as The Men’s Garden Club). Talked to Jim Mautz about Harding altar being enshrined to a Baptist President. Speaker no show, so Bill Hutchman conducted a discussion on any topic presented. Really enjoy his gardening knowledge.

MCHS 2
Hauled 5 wheelbarrow loads of dirt down to ruts Ray Foertshc made – planted grass seed & covered with straw.
Tom Wagner came out ‘to find out your side to all the controversy you’ve caused.’ My 11 concerns & my report for the Exec Committee on locating Pros for library on lower level – and asking board to view the nook already there in Harding Room #1 rather than remove (new) wall & encroach on the club room – destroying it for any use by Marion Area Genealogy Society. All that to provide a place for an altar that has no historical significance except that Episcopal Church chose to use money Hardings left to them to construct the altar.
He seemed placated but after his vicious attack on my article about library location I don’t trust him.

MCHS 5+3 = 8
Prepared a list of 11 concerns about things happening in MCHS.
Also finished my study of library in lower level or in main lobby.

All I can do to force myself to go to Board meetings & have to defend my convictions. Jack asked additional space for the Harding altar from Episcopal Church by taking it from the Club Room. I suggested using alcove already at N. end of room – & protested that Harding was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. I called for paper vote. 7 for taking club room aread – 4 against. Out of 24 board members – not really a mandate.
Norm Fogt upset at the obligation paper to HPEF trustees. Says this is his last year as treasurer.
