Pat (Hattie) Rice, granddaughter of Elizabeth Berry, granddaughter of Alex Berry stopped in for genealogy help. I was in garden picking cucumbers, tomatoes, Blue Lake green beans & zucchini. 9 hrs at computer on bricks & Huber newsletter.

Reconstruction [of damaged file] 6
Started to update Brick file & found garbage after record 254 – even on my bak up files so don’t klnow when it happened. So will have to reconstruct it. Spent about 4 hrs. Cleaning up files, sorting disks, etc.

Woke to radio news telling of Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait – not good news.
Helen Kaufman called to tell me Jack Telfer is in hospital – took 4 pts for fluid.
Also said Jack had referred my note to her about having a potluck to honor retiring officers & trustees. She suggested September 11 – 2nd Tues. New officers take over Sept 1.

Back to Dr. Lowe – All blood tests ok including thyroid – cholesterol 210 – set up a physical for Nov 15. Weight 172.
To Heritage Hall to install Photo Archivist – computer still blowing a circuit breaker. Saw Jack for only a minute as he was in & out. He will ask electrician to fix it. Brought Photo Archivist home.

Mary & I to Akron. Visited Doris & Stu & then they took us to lunch at ChiChi’s. Had chimichanga.
Then to the Bookseller on Exchange St. Mary sold $35 books to them & $75 to dealer in old school across street. Fantasy story paperbacks.
Then to Seiberling Park to see the herb garden – Large beds. Labelled rocks (glacier remnants). He’s been p[ark employer for 21 yrs & finally found his niche.
Home about 5:30 & had supper here.

Wrote letters to Jack Telfer & Sandy Davies about lobby changes at Heritage Hall that would move pediments that are over stamp windows. Also made copies of other letters to M. Meseke, WIlbert Snyder to Jack. Updated list of officers & trustees of MCHS & wrote to Jack about retiring officers & trustees leaving us chance to have a “Swan Song” since he cancelled the August Board Meeting.
Supper with Mary at Perkins – Then she accompanied me to Heritage Hall to re-install the computer. Started up fine- but blew fuse after about 3 minutes. Bought sweet corn on way home for supper tomorrow.

David called at 10:30 saying to meet Karen & kids at Women’s Bldg at State Fairgrounds at 12:30 – So did & picked up MCHS computer. He couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Started to walk thro fairgrounds but I got a cramp in groin & every step was agony. So limped back to car. Came home thro Ashley to check Power Ribbobn Co, for Fall Fair. Leftovers for supper.

Loaned Gretchen Haley Book “Viola” by Brainard with David’s inscription on “new” violet species.

Taking feldene* for arthritis.
Picked Blue Lake green beans in garden across road – 13 beans on one plant! Also cucumbers, zucchini & tomato. Had to wear my Alaska mosquito hat. Cooked beans with ham shank & potatoes. Made zucchini bread.
Gretchen Haley & friend Cindy stopped by to see gardens but mosquitoes drove them inside. She is divorced from Graull, lost her house, but now has it back on land contract.
Wrote letters to Kristi, Jed, David about visit of Mosely & Denny & my talk with Dean Francis Hazard of OSUM – Sent copies to Kathi & David.
David called – he has moved his office to the SRC** office as he does so much work for them. Thanked me for Karen’s birthday gift ($250) – wanted to make arrangements to pick up MCHS computer in Cols tomorrow when family comes up to make entries at State Fair.
Mary out for supper bringing the first Crum farm sweet corn. Also had my first regular tomato along with beans and cucumbers.

To Beatty Labs for another blood test. Dr. Lowe reported some tests high.
Worked all day on updating Purchase Fund contributions from Norm’s records.
At 4:00 to Mary’s & she drove us to Forest – picked up Jessie Baker & 2 great-grandgirls – To supper in Forest. Stopped at McBride’s to look at recliners. They closed from 6-7 so didn’t have time to make a purchase. Visited at Jessie’s some & then on to Kathy Kin’s to take her the “gold” framed memorial to her great-grandmother Elizabeth (Yeager) Hemmerly – died 1885 age 49. Left check with daughter as they went to Findlay shopping & car broke down – Pd me the $36 I paid for it. Elizabeth was my great aunt – died even before daddy was born.
Thelma Hemmerly called from Pontiac saying they wouldn’t be down this weekend.
