Monday, August 15, 1955
In bed all day fighting cold. Mother & Daddy out in late PM but Keith staying until tomorrow. Popcorn & TV evening & feeling better. Swallowed part of filling from back tooth.

Sunday, August 14, 1955
Did Cook wedding. Wanda Rader & mother in at 3:00 for wedding appointment. Keith Brown home with me about 5:00. Me sick with cold or flu. Went right to bed. Helen Brocklesby took Beth Hanning home after MYF.

Did Judy Street-Boxwell wedding. Beth Hanning home with us.

Friday, August 12, 1955
Good to be home! But everything grown up. Daddy & Mr. Deyson out. Mowed & cut saplings between garden and river. Sold 4 poems from batches sent out before vacation. 2 Christian Home – 1 Toronto Star – 1 Christian Science Monitor.

Thursday, August 11, 1955
Back to book store & then got checked out & got car & over to Field Museum & Aquarium. My legs so tired! Left at 2:00 & too tire to shop at Museum of Science & Industry. Headed for home & made it about 11:15. Stopped at folks & then on home.

Wednesday, August 10, 1955
Shipping at Marshall Field until 11:00 when went to Cinerama Holiday. Thrilling. Then took cab to Planetarium in time for 3:00 show. On haloes & rainbows. Mary & Rocky & Kathy to supper at Chinese place but I was too tired. I didn’t like the type comic books at the hotel.

Tuesday, August 9, 1955
Easy drive into Chicago & lunched & spent PM at Lincoln Park Zoo. To Harrison Hotel about 6:00. Then walked through loop to Palace Theater & got tickets for American Holiday. Just missed lights on Fountain. Turned in about 10:00.

Monday, August 8, 1955
Breakfast in nice park. Took upper Dells trip, lunch at Wisconsin Dells, “Duck” trip on lower Dells. Then to Devil’s Lake & climbed up to see view. Kathy feeling lousy. Stayed at terrible place in Madison.

Sunday, August 7, 1955
Left Newberry after breakfast in cabin. Lovely cool weather. Northern Michigan not like Canada. No granite. Gathered driftwood on N. shore of Lake Mich. Lunch at roadside park on Lake. Wisconsin beautiful. Rolling, green. Lovely motel at Mariston.
