Rez’d knotty pine on front porch & new living room window. Watered grass. Cut off elm along road that was bushy.
Bob Jordan over to get annual. He’s co-editor at Claridon this year. TV popcorn & ironing.

Wednesday, September 14, 1955
In to get perm at Cottage Beauty Shop Helen Leonard – $10. Picked up hose at Bernards. Early supper & set out more dwarf iris. In for wedding appointment Schill-Carbetta. Stopped at Mary & Rocky’s for visit. Another cereus out. Bed 11:00. (My hair is too curly – 4 minutes would be plenty.)

Tuesday, September 13, 1955
Set out primroses from Mrs. Kintu & daylilies & div of iris from Rocky. In at 12:00 to work till 4:00. David had Charles Belt & Jim Sherer over to play. Got bale of barley straw from Ralph Boger for new grass. Mother & Daddy & Deysons out to see 2 blooms on cereus. Bob & Terry Swisher, Bob Hill & Don Jerew here.

Monday, September 12, 1955
Worked on bookkeeping A.M. In at 12 to work at shop. Home at 4:00 & early supper. Napped. Filled greenhouse benches with sand. Bill & Erma Hutchman brought some of their poinsettias & tomatoes out. Daddy called saying Emma Wade is quitting – doctor’s orders.

Sunday, September 11, 1955
Did Roberts-Ludy & Green-Weary wedding appointments. Invited Ruth Ruhlman out but she didn’t feel well enough to come. Birded both sides of river for 1 hr then to Hutchman’s dinner in their new home. Everything delicious. Made out bulb order for them. Gave Bill a book on Landscaping.

Saturday, September 10, 1955
To Bank & in by 10 to do Rudy-Bechtle wedding. Stopped at Dale Hughes for orchids. Beautiful home & orchids. Watched Miss America contest on TV – Popcorn. Bed 12:15

Friday, September 9, 1955
After being a member for 11 years I finally entertained Garden Club! Glady Nystrom, Helen Williams, Fern Waddell wonderful committee. 44 here. Biggest attendance in years. Kathy to Football clinic at Claridon with Clarks. Me bed at 8:30. Temp 91.

Thursday, September 8, 1955
Mrs. Deyson out & we really cleaned but didn’t get kitchen done. In at 4:30 & got material for table cloths. Cleaned garage, scrubbed red up etc. Bed at 3:00.

Wednesday, September 7, 1955
Mowed lower lawn. Laid seven steps starting down to river using mortar. Mother & Daddy out in evening & Daddy helped lay some brick. Fertilized lawn. Worked until 2:00 ironing. Nystroms out early evening. Bed at 2:15.

Tuesday, September 6, 1955
Kids to school. Kathy 9th – David 5th. Both glad to be back. Worked at odds & ends outdoors getting ready for Garden Club Friday.
