Everything ice covered so no school. Kathy finished “Wuthering Heights”. David made animal trap. I cleaned drawers & ironed.

Worked from 11 till 4:30. Picked David up at barber shop & took him to Dr. Goodman* Watched Peter Pan with Mary Martin on T.V.
[*Orthodontist – David had braces for 4 years]

Sunday, January 8, 1956
Kids all to Sunday School & me to church. Pat Esterline called at 1:30 saying she wouldn’t go to Hockey Game so I had to take Bob Swisher & Kathy in. Kids skating river & 3 walked it. Leonards out to pick up MIke. Walt brought Kathy & Bob Swisher home & came in to see house. Here about an hour. Bob here for supper & then to MYF.

Kids in with me to work. David skating & coliseum with Mike Leonard. Don out of hospital & daddy took him to Bucyrus. Mike home with us. Groceries at Seckels*.
[*Caledonia had two grocery stores, Seckels IGA and Reece’s Market. In addition, May’s Hardware store and the Caledonia library as well as other thriving business around the square.]

Finished Sears order – clothes $21, household stuff $23. Cleaned at house. Mrs. Schoonover from Mt. GIlead over to ask about Florist Schools. Worked in greenhouse & on bank by garage – temp 56. Beautiful day. Crotched tonight! Kathy to basketball.

Cleaned cupboards in kitchen. Daddy out. Don in hospital. Pneumonia? David & I put up Patio bell & rain gauge. Got all Christmas things down & ready for attic.

June Granham here to clean. In at noon for lunch at Harding with United Appeals Group. Shopped for coat & suit but got dress & shoes. June not too good. $1 an hour. Cleaned drawers in David room.
