Finished planting nursery orders. Weigela, mock orange, mimosa, dogwood, Hopa crab. Answered Ray’s fan letter – Mrs. Hodgson in Kentucky. Bed 2:00 PM.

Wednesday, March 21, 1956
In at 7:50 & to Urbana with daddy for hydrangeas. Dubbed at shop till 3. David had Jr. River Patrol over – 10 yelling kids. Put up signs. I planted 5 willows – 25 honeysuckle – 5 Persian Lilacs & 6 Chinese redbud. Kathy played in Trumpet Trio at church.

Tuesday, March 20, 1956
Low 12 High 36 – Sunny. First Day of Spring. Still snow on ground. In at 10 and did 90 corsagettes for MacMillen dinner. Walt brought David an axe & knife set as Scout gift. To Court of Honor & David became Tenderfoot. Then to Community Club. H Alexanders Greek [illegible]

Monday, March 19, 1956
In to shop. Kids in after school & David to dentist. Kathy & I shopped odds & ends. Wedding appointment at 6:00 & Burroughs Club at 8:00. Home 11:30.

Saturday, March 17, 1956
At shop all day. Snowstorm still. Vivian Adams & Ken Ozier made it up. Kenneth Hemmerly & Daisy & his family at shop P.M. Ken Ozier & Vivian & Mary & Rocky here evening & Ed Miller friend of Kens. Ken & Viv all night.

Sunday, March 18, 1956
Ken, David & I took hike through our woods & down at bridge. Beautiful snow. Mary & Rocky here for dinner. Ken loaded morgue & very pleased. Gave me two of his framed lithographs*. Left at 2. Alice & Milan Gorby here from 4 to 5. Pat Esterline over for supper. Bed early.

[*Ken Ozier was Cincinnati artist and friend of Vivian Adams, Mary Hemmerly’s friend from Baptist Convention at Dennison. These two lithographs are in the possession of David Haldeman in Cincinnati]

Friday, March 16, 1956
Cleaned living room & my bedroom good. Kids home at 2:00 – 3 1/2″ snow & drifting. Kathy baked cookies. Bed 11:30 Tired.

Thursday, March 15, 1956
Daddy stopped & I went with him on delivery to Mt. Gilead. Stopped at Milan’s but no tools to get birdhouse. Cleaned out coldframe & put pansies out there. David cut down & burned trees that had sprouted. TV evening. Kathy to Lions Club Tournament.

Wednesday, March 14, 1956
To shop to pick up flowers & then to Harding High School as speaker on “Florist” for Career Day. Had 2 classes. About 50 kids. Lunch at Y for all 59 speakers. To shop & to hospital & cemetery with daddy for delivery. Bed early & Kathy to Prayer meeting. Snow – 2″

Tuesday, March 13, 1956
Washed hall walls & some windows. Reset shrub in border along road & transplanted grapes. Sifted dirt & transplanted 3 flats pansies. David to Scouts & Kathy to Lions Club Tournament while I got permanent at Ruth Wiers. Home 10:00.
