Left Francis’s at 8:30. To Cumberland Falls about 3. Looked at falls & waded in river above falls. Back through Somerset & saw Forrest’s old house. Drove through Asbury Colleg & on to Lexington for night. To Fritchs [sic] for “Big Boys” & bed at 9:30.

In at 9 for wedding appointment – Frankie Knapp. Did small wedding at shop. David selling roasting ears 50cents/doz. Eva Maria Lanzano & Mary Jane Smith out for iris & hems. Ted Pollack, Bob Rohodes & Jerry Bechtle out to see Bug Collection. Mary Baker going with us to Tennessee.

Thursday, August 2, 1956
Beautiful day so took off for East Harbor at 10:30 with Barb & Becky Brooks & Keith Brown. Lake rough & cold. I didn’t go in. Met daddy’s chartered boad at Catawba Island. He had rough day on lake but caught fish. Home at 7:30. To Norma Tozzer’s & gave talk on Hems.

Wednesday, August 1, 1956
Rainy all day so didn’t go to lake. Worked in perennial beds most of day & cleaned out greenhouse some. Planned to go to movie but kids feeling punk so watched TV.

Tuesday, July 31, 1956
Took Kathy to Donia for band practice. Got groceries & banked. Studio couch for David’s room came PM & Mother & Daddy out & helped moved army beds back to shack & clean David’s room. Daddy put screen on greenhouse door. Bob Swisher, Barb & Jerry Gorby here to make ice cream.
