Saturday, September 8, 1956
Kathy in with me & David home all day. Worked on tomorrow weddings. To Frankie Knapp’s rehearsal & to pick up aisle cloth with I had forgotten at Peerless. Mrs. Wilcox very obliging. Mother & Daddy here when I got home. Watch “Miss America” Pageant on TV.

Friday, September 7, 1956
First “pay check” as “manager” $50 per week – take home $42. Daddy gave me $10 extra as we had a good week. But Dick gets $96 per week & Mrs. Deyson also makes $50! Kids to football clinic but temp about 45 so I stayed home.

Thursday, September 6, 1956
No hurting where tooth pulled! Still plenty busy at shop. Stella Cosgrove & Chester Ulsh died. Kids in & shopped for Kathy shoes & material for jumper. Supper at drive-in. Cool tonight. Daddy & Mother to Roys. He’s much improved.

Wednesday, September 5, 1956
To Dr. Vornholt at 9 & had lower left molar pulled. Novacaine. Not too bad. Then to shop & plenty busy. Home at 6 & set out hems (day lilies) amid mosquitos. Tom Silverthorn down. Bed 10:30.

Tuesday, September 4, 1956
First day at shop at “Manager” & Dick Grimm’s first day. Me $50 per week + weddings. Him $96 per week. Made 23 funeral pieces. Daddy did 2. David to scout meeting & Kathy hair cut washed & set. Sorted clothes & wrote checks. Bed 11:15. First day of school.

Monday, September 3, 1956
Labor Day
Set out hems from Rocky seedlings. Anne Campbell & husband stopped by. To Hutchmans for picnic supper. Pat Esterline with us. Eddie, girls & Ziegler boy to Drive-in movie. We home about 10 – They 11:30. Washer rimed[?] track.

Sunday, September 2, 1956
Picked Emma up at 7 & started on the 4 weddings for today. I had headache but worked it off. Daddy & Emma to Windfall while I did Epworth. Then Mary Rockwell with me to Waldo & met daddy & Emma there. Finished by 3 & home & to bed. Webbs & Toledo friends here in evening.

Saturday, September 1, 1956
Judy Hamilton wedding! Madelyn pleased & Ruth Oborn did wonderful job on Club. Then Ann Shephard & Bob Mason at Epworth. Kathy worked all day & until about 9:30. Home. Daddy 65 today. Emma worked for me. Says she never quit, was just sick.

Campbell-Cornely wedding & then one at Church of Christ – in the rain. Kathy helping.

Thursday, August 30, 1956
Hard at weddings all day. Kathy to band on bike. Margaret Jury at Memorial Methodist. Kathy helped me finish up.
