.4 inch rain
Mailed stack of mail & cashed check in Caledonia & left Fall Fair posters. Stopped at Cord Camera on way to Ohio Historical Center for OAHSM Exec Comm. Say cost of repairing my Minolta Freedom camera would be $79. Looked at similar cameras from $129 to $179
My last Exec. Committee meeting (as past Pres of OAHSM). Will miss last board meeting while in Reno. J.D. Britton shows real signs of leadership. New program for Trish & regional rep to actually visit non-member Historical groups. Plans to get Local Historian to more local historians. Suggested a get together breakfast for all past board members on Sat AM at Annual Meeting. Suggested it might get some there that wouldn’t otherwise come.
To Marysville via Rt 33 – To Hildreth’s about 5:30 & Harold sitting middle of room (all dressed up in blue jacket) with the wooden shovel, the brass Hildreth School bell, Wm Hildreth III ‘bleeder’, 3 tin types, framed picture of David & Eliza Hildreth & 4 children & the saddle bag that Wm Hildrethr III rode from Knox Co. to Uniopn Co. with $800 in gold to buy the 500 acres. David called with invitation to JHed & Susannah’s birthday party. Enthused with big contracts interviewing another program.

Impatiens by drive frosted on top. Ruby red mums in full bloom.
Mowed & watered. Called Ralph Boger to tell him I have the last 2 of his pictures./ He came over & I asked if he could push the oak tree chips over the hill by lower drive. He brought his front loader & also smoothed out the dirt piled there. A job McCoy Landscaping didn’t finish. Will find a rock to mount my Terradise plaque on when soy beans are harvested.
Called Mary to go to supper but she had chicken dinner at noon in Prospect, so I finished the pimento loaf. Watered & trimmed.
Harold & Miriam Hildreth arrived unannounced. H will sell Hildreth treasures. Wanted $1,600. Settled for $1,250 & fell like a fool letting him take me.

94 Sunny wind 7 mph
Spent afternoon taking video & snapshots
Hipsher’s Tree Service (3 men) came about 12;30 – Told them David requested white oak not be cut – Dan Gilsor (Urban Forester of the Dept of Natural Resources) returned my call about 12:45 just as they were ready to start cutting the trunk. He advised not cutting it now & to get advice from a registered tree firm on stabilizing the tree. Made Hispsher mad when I told him – Dumped the load of chips on top of dirt – not in hole – left logs on grass for firewood – Even tho he had a whole pickup to sell for firewood. But at least ? of the 15’ diameter tree is still standing. And despite Hipsher’s warnings that it could fall any time they didn’t make any effort to stay out from under it with wind @ 15mph. I wonder if putting the swing on the tree caused the splitting?

Wrote up; Exec Comm minutes for Sept 3 meeting. Called Helen Geyer to see if Charlton had reported on Slate for Officers – Had sent her nothing. Supper with Mary at Turroff’s – EHMA Board meeting – I made the critical motion with much coaching to negotiate to purchase Lincoln Mercury property for museum & headquarters. Passed unanimously.
