Rain, Sleet, Sunshine, Rain seen! April’s Moods*
River flooded on low spot on far bank

Jim Carpenter download pix from my camera and e-mailed the current Terradise pics to Kathi, Dvid, Jed & Dave Decker – Response from all but David.
Jim laid another row of bricks along walk east of greenhouse – carried half-filled pots to their places on patio & deck ready to be filled with Tr-Rivers plants. I raked leaves & cut ivy from area between pool & greenhouse and Jim finished by cutting of dead privet & trees that had sprung up. He carried big tub of leaves to already full compost pile.
Cooked beef stew (bagged) in crock pot for supper.
Wrote up minutes of HPEF & emailed to all trustees & advisors.
To Baord meeting at 7:00 – Brown from Whirlpool there describing their planned Industrial exhibit at Heritage Hall.
Night at Museum made over $2,000 – no chicken barbecue – Bede Agner heart problem. Lots of problems with ‘Celebrate Summer’ Ben Kern creating poster to sell.

Investment policy document needed updating – Passed at meeting – Dan Wigton talked in circles bottom line – lost 40% of value. USB funds Kit Fogle – my investment in Romine/Howser HPEF lost 20% of value. Concur about funds producing the $8,070 listed in budget. Geo Brown & Todd Anderson no shows even tho I called them.
Gale & I to Bob Evans – her treat for all the Monday night suppers at Terradise.
River not flooded but pond full and low spot south of it.

65º AM cloudy 50º 8:00 PM rainy
Read ‘The Grandfathers’ by Conrad Richter that I purchased for 25¢ on Rummage Sale yesterday. Took until 2:00 AM so I slept until 10:00. Planted forget-me-not seeds among scilla by side porch steps. Planted oregonia & lavender seeds in pots – also old grass seed to see if it will germinate. Emptied pots where I planted Arbor Day trees that didn’t grow into big planter pots. Will fill with plants form Tri-Rivers & place on decks & patio.
Removed soil along brick walk to make room for another row of bricks. Replanted grape hyacinth in bed by Bradford Pear. Planted yellow pansies in white containers by pool. Toad singing for a mate. Man across river called to me – excited to see so many violets blooming. Swpt walks & garage.
Gale came over about 5:15 – Dug 2 red bud trees and daffs along fence.
I’m disappointed that no seeding done along fence along road.

70º no wind sunny
Lawn Repair
Shawn Cross, John & crew & 5 trucks at Terradise about 9:30 AM – I had dug daffs & iris along fence by road. Decided to remove plugs & thatch instead of all the sod. They brought 3 tons of topsoil to fill the low spots – cleared the walk to gazebo and filled with pea gravel. Seeded, filled spots with Ky Blue Grass, fescue & rye. Finished the ramp by the greenhouse & replied the railroad ties to hold the bank temporarily.
I had created news release for Columbus Dispatch ready to mnail when I took more rummage to HH – couldn’t find it in car (Had slipped down between the seats where I found it too late to mail at Caledonia). Called all the Trustees of HPEF to remind of meeting Monday.

Scott Spears here from 4 to 4:45 – taped segment for my open garden & also the stupid income tax skit he wrote – told me Madge Guthery evidently had a stroke after she wen to Marion Manor with a broken hip. Unable to speak until just recently.
Took him for a ride in golf cart. He was awed by the beaut y of Terradise.
Another supper of Carpenter leftovers including pickled eggs & beets.
To library by 7:00 – About 10 people in audience. Gale spoke for 30 minutes contrasting info in 1929 Marion Star with 1931-1936 demographics.
I took personal effects – no college – no corsages at prom – but Hemmerlys Flowers started with Daddy;s 50 glad bulbs.

45° Rainy – river up, muddy
Dave Matyak brought the bat pillow – inflated – (Kathi sent it). And a connector for the greenhouse hose. More rummage in car. I gave him ‘Lob’s Woods’ to read & he was engrossed. So I went through all the gardening books on hall shelves but couldn’t find ‘The Little Bulbs’
Showed him ‘Trilliums’ and a weather book and he took them all home to read.
To Tri-Rivers & picked up my flower of the month – Another with flowers packed together & shoved in a vase.
To Dr. Kathy Dixon’s office at 1:00. I weigh 130 – 63.2 in. tall; BP 122/80. Everything OK – told her am up a couple of times a night – but can go all day without urinating! Said that indicated healthy kidneys & I told her I’d live with it.
Found my left hearing aid in my purse so to Dr. Wingert. Finally convinced him it doesn’t work so he’ll send it to be repaired. If I don’t find the one for right ear – it is under warranty & will be replaced.
Shopped for grapes, bananas, lettuce & broccoli at Meijer – Carpenter leftovers for supper.
