Burned pile needs so cleaning up!

Took ride through woods.
Line up my 4 floral gifts for a photo – Daisy mum plant from Gale, carnation & pom pom & alstrameria arrangement from Jim C & Scott Spears and fall arrangement from Kathi & Bob.
Sent emails to HPE Fund trustees & Gale & Jan for meeting on Nov 10.
Entered data for 1983 in chronologic autobio file – No C’mas letters for 1984 & 1985 in notebook.

Dave hugged me goodbye while I was still in bed – Left at 7:00 AM. Called me at 5:15 – was home and had enjoyed the stop at Cayaugua [sic] National Park-
FIne tuned article on Hemmerly’s 75 years as Florist & included 1966 pix – emailed to James Stevens at Marion Star.
Send note of thanks to Jerry Davis for sending me the Marion Star clipping on leaf gathering. Grateful since I couldn’t find my Sunday paper. I think David used it to light the brush pile fire.
Angela Dutcher stopped with her 7 yr old son (shy) to return photos I loaned her for her assignment.
Supper in my bedroom so I could watch TV – Only a waving line reception on one in TV room.

94 years old
Flowers from Scott Spears delivered by Marion Flower Shop.
Dave to Marion to visit Olgua. Surprise visit from Charles & Ruth Mosher. Had the letter from Gale inquiring about publishing his Underground RR in Ohio Book. But its not on a disc & needs typing.
He has writte 32 books – Most not published. Sad to see his frustrations. Ruth not well too.
Jed, Rachel & Miette came about 5:30 with the one layer chocolate cake for my birthday + candles. To Dugout pizza for 1 large & 1 medium pizza $18. Lit fire in fireplace after Dave re-arranged my logs – burned all evening. I had a box of pix & we all enjoyed them.
Dave emptied the 2 trash cans in kitchen & took them to the garage for Fri Trash pick up.

Dave and I to TN Preserve and by holding to his arm I was able to walk the lane to the Geocache site. Then followed the perimeter trail to the cur off, a beautiful half hour walk. Trees bare and identification easy from leaves on the ground. So good to the [see] my house from over there.
Then to Marion where Dave visited Hemmerly’s Flowers & ordered flowers for Johanna. Got sandwiches & me a tpot pie at Famous Chicken. Drove thruy downtown Marion & along the Fairground, Greenwood & Van Buren family homes.
Back home I rewrote the news release on Hemmerly’s Flowers using the picture of 1966 staff.
Jim Carpent er arrived about 4:00 with a big box of food and a red carnation & yellow daisy bokay for me. He cooked hamburger (in his skillet so he “wouldn’t get yours dirty”) – Made sloppy Joes that included some kidney beans. Gale arrive at 4:30 with Byers [sic] ice cream and Quince in chunks in a sweet syrup served over the ice cream. Delightful conversation. Ben Kern joined us – after others left he and Dave had a real gab fest. He left at 12:30 AM. after Gale left.
Such a delightful day – 94 year old woman & 3 men!

Spent most of the day organizing HPE Fund notebooks. Took the large original one to be place in Resource Center – Kept one from 2005 for current meetings.
Altho I talked to Geo Brown & Jack Bull, and both said they would attend they didn’t show up. Kit Fogle reported on RInker Howser and Dan Wigton on HPEF original $101,000 corpus as of Nov 1 & $5,600 can be given for operating in 2010,
Made bean salad and took some to Gale in her small crockpot that she brought quince chutney for my birthday dinner.

Dave did some of the little chores that needed fish all leaves out of the patio fish pool – swept patio from leaves. David & Karen, Josh & Susannah & Carolyn came about 11:00 & got table  & chairs hauled across road – and fire started in the brush pile. Jed, Rachel & Miettefrom Columbus and Sarah, Dave & Thad from Urbana. Great food contributed by them – Everyone wants Josh’s baked potato soup & Karen’s bean casserole recipes. Wieners and buns my contribution – Cool but perfect day – How wonderful to have Dave with us but missed Kathi & the rest of her family.
Good conversation in living room but no fireplace in deference to Thad’s breathing problems.
Took a golf cart ride down in the woods – some areas flooded.
David brought me his personal recorder device as a gift.

Missle Bombing stopped in Iraq
Use Royal Albert China & Sterling to set table for Waffle Supper for Mary Hecker, Mary Jordan, Helen Romine & Erma Hutchman – Everything went fine until top plate of waffle iron came loose & rested on top of a waffle already in it. 2 Marys left about 6:30 as Mary J was going to LDS Church program with Ed & Barbara Granger.
Helen, Erma & I had good chat – showed them pix Dave sent from Carrier Carl Vinson & played a CD of Irish music. Also e-mail cpapbilities.
Jack Telfer mailed me a copy of the recorded deed for 12+ acres to Marion County Park District.

Missle Bombing stopped in Iraq

Royce Cleaning – Did washing – bedding & shower curtains. Usual pick up & sorting.
In to Marion 1t 3:00 – Stopped at Hutchman’s to repay $10 I borrwed for bulbs at Garden Club – Erma had decorated for Christmas & Bill was marvelling at roses blooming in Dec.
To Dan Wigtons office in Corporate Center to get transfer documents for Mary to sign.
To Hap Dowler’s office. Went over Endowment Fund I’ll establish for maintenance of Terradise Nature Center in memory of Howard Howser.
Signed deed transferring 12+ acres of Terradise to Marion County Park District. Hap says that will make Jack Telfer ecstatic.
Picked up a Lee’s chicken dinner for supper.
