Called Charlie McCarthy and he said he would meet me at Resource Center but he didn’t show up. Mailed check for $5,320 to GE Assurance Insurance for Medicare Supplement. Couldn’t find invoice to include.
Dorothy Everett of East Liverpool- 89 year old and daughter came to see Prince Imperial. Dorothy’s aunt married Will Howser and they raised her. She disputed that Napoleon the third had sold or given Prince Imperial to Jacob Howser. Ruth Lyon (Joe’s widow) is Dorothy’s sister.
To Kingston about 4:30- Mary Jo Baxter on duty. Tables and chairs from Heritage Hall filled the open area of reception area. I bought six raffle tickets for gift baskets supplied by Kingston. Sat with Helen Kaufman and Dorothy Young. Gale and Dan joined us. Talked to John and Jan peacock and he will take me to Ohio Historical Society to see Ray Romine lepidoptera collection.
To Helen’s home on Richland Road to get quinces from her tree. Gave me a jar of quince honey Dorothy made.

Rain .4 of an inch
Up at 8 bath but no breakfast so I could have blood drawn for testing. While waiting, a woman asked if I was Trella. Said she had always wanted to meet me because she had enjoyed my radio talks and articles in the Star. At Y pool a new woman did the same! And as I was leaving Faith Evanovski’s husband stopped me to say hello. Shopped at Meijer after depositing $1,000 check from 229 account in my checking.
To post office to mail prairie seeds to Jackye. Email from Dave Decker- he is driving and will arrive next Saturday about 6:00. Telephone call from Kathi.

DJ 10081
Royce cleaned I did three loads of laundry. Washed banisters on side porch and cleaned the bird bath fountain.
Karen Kelly here at 3:45 to pick up my book on Copper Canyon in Mexico that Dave and Johanna gave me in 2001. Showed her the Marion Star front page photo of first work on Rails to Trails west of Marion. Also the Terradise Nature Preserve Endowment Fund original documents allowing only 5% withdrawal of corpus. But now managed by Marion Community Foundation. Exchanged other stories and she said they fish in ponds verifying my sightings in the spring in mine.
We both drove to Terradise Nature Preserve to see if gravel had been delivered to use on low spots on path and better access from shelter house. They hadn’t! She will ask Dick and Mary to put additional stakes on Terradise signs to stabilize them.

69° sunny
Relative humidity 33% perfect weather.
Jim O’dell found a loose phone connection I had overlooked on bottom of phone by my bed. He took down curtains and I washed and dried for Jim Carpenter to put up when he drove out in his new Old’s 1992 automobile.
Jim O’Dell put in storm windows. $117.
Jim Carpenter cut Morning Glory vines off three trellises and the perfusion of New England Asters by Ohio Natural Areas marker. Scattered the seed heads across the road. I scattered Butterfly Milkweed and chaff from other plants’ seed. Also the Liatris scoriosa and the white mallow. Jim dug the senna [?] roots and removed pump from the pool. To attic and removed some trash. He left at 4:15 $40
Sent to James Stevens at Marion Star- ‘Ham and Bean Dinner’ & story on antiques appraisal.
David H has lost his Canon OES $400 camera. Hope he finds it like Jim Carpenter did his. Has left it someplace- (pawn shop?)*
[*probably lost at Mt. Washington Cemetery during filling of Maintenance building basement -DJH]

Email from Karen Kelly about projected trip to Copper Canyon in Mexico and asking about book on it that Dave Decker gave me. Looked on all bookshelves and can’t find it.
Mouse froze while I was using computer- finally called David he said turn off computer. Took 15 minutes for it to reboot but got the mouse back.
No TV signal- I’m jinxed?
To board meeting. Why didn’t Nancy Gracely make corrections from executive committee before giving to board!
Betty White brought me a jar of tomato juice made from plants I gave her. Says it’s ‘Whites Brew’ and it’s hot!
Home by 8:30.

Paulownia leaves blasted by frost turned black.
Big decision got up at 7:45. After bath and breakfast and feeding birds to the family YMCA to the warm pool for arthritis exercise. New leader Sarah. Learned that Doris Burton had eye surgery and decided to retire. Only about five old-timers and they all welcomed me back. I used Mary’s walker so the long walk to the pool was okay.
Stopped at Dr Winger’s office to pick up my right hearing aid after repair. At Rite Aid Cleo Taylor helpful. Told me she would stay with Grandma Sheneman when Mother and Daddy had a break. Was 14 or so and lived nearby. I didn’t remember her. To Ohio State Bank. Cashed $200 check balance only $5,500 and I have health insurance for that due November 2nd.
Ate lunch at restaurant in Old Stone Block. Reuben sandwich and salad $7.50. Leftovers for supper.
Called Gale on cell phone- day off to plant prairie seedlings.
Email from Josh and Jed with food they will bring November 1st for my birthday. Kathi’s email with news that Josh was elected president of the DeLorean Car Show.

Re-reading ‘Harding Affair’. Appreciate the depth of Robinalt’s research. Learning so much about pre-World War I
