82-57 sunny.
Did a load of laundry and remembered before permanent press and electric dryers that I would be have I would have hung them on a line to dry and then spend half a day ironing!
Disturbing email from Dave Matyac seems Marilyn doesn’t appreciate what she has no more buying at auctions he says!
Email from Robin Cook she fell off her porch and severed her Achilles tendon!
Ccooked chicken in Crock-Pot with mushrooms and made a corn casserole with box of cornmeal. then Gale called and invited me to dinner at her house east of Fulton. (Dan and his mother Mary Grau ). She came by and led me there in car 20 miles from Terradise. Dan purchased 10 acres and had built a large house about a year before he and Gale met on the internet. He has his divorce papers now (10 years ago) and wedding later this month.
Mary played piano for me and showed me her oil paintings. told me she thought I would be taller when Gale talked about me.
Home at 8:00. Suzy here eating her supper in front of computer.
Watched Antiques Roadshow and history to bed at 10:00.

$2.52 per gallon- filled up gas at Swifty and got 52.9 miles per gallon on 36 mile trip.
Picked up Jim Carpenter and drove to John Green Cemetery. He had a folding chair for me and snacks. Took no pics since we were in Wyandot County. Greeted by Bill Moses, Charlton Myers’ three daughters Sally, Barbara and ? After reading of Declaration of Independence by Barbara, Sally gave background on a celebration and cemetery- in their family through mother for four generations.
Bob and Bonnie Klips came to me after ceremony. Good chat. He’s involved at Emerald Ash Borer research in Michigan and also Sullivant’s milkweed. Gathering pollen today.
We drove through Killdeer but not a single Canada Goose and the eagle nests couldn’t be seen in trees east of headquarters.
To fairgrounds in log cabin from 1:45 to 5:00 -almost 100 visitors. Nancy Cluff Augenstein talked to me for an hour. I did her wedding in LaRue in the 1960s. Also Ziegler’s- THR fans! Like my writings.
Home by 6:00. A Capital Fourth on PBS.

wrote a letter to Charlie Evers protesting his statement that there are Harding letters to Nan Britain anywhere that got me into the 3-in ring binder of correspondence with Robert Farrell. also has other Harding material 2000 plus letters still in envelopes so got them into the binder and used another binder for all other Harding correspondence.
Reading Bob’s letters is good for my ego.

First terrace wall finished and timbers placed along steps and ramps.
Replanted miniature rose bush and put chicken wire around the three pots on ramp. Planted two more coreopsis and two Royal Catchfly in bed by lower drive. Cleaned and watered petunias and geraniums and pergola bed and watered them and tomato plant. Tomatoes showing change from green.
Crew has wall 8 timbers High and the ones along steps laid.
To Marion Manor at 6:00 to tape three sessions of the Exchange Club. Madge Guthrey, Charlie Evers and Joe Ione and Trella. Scott Spears prepares topics and Round Table discussion. Following taping chatted and Charlie [said] that the letters Harding wrote to Nan Britton were found hidden in a house by Marion attorney Don Williamson and were in Columbus to be opened in the future. That will cause a lot of comment he said. I was stunned. He was describing Harding’s letter to Carrie Phillips not Nan Britton.
When I got home from about 7:00 David’s car in driveway and could hear him mowing in the woods. Fried chicken and had a cheese broccoli microwave dish. Susannah here at 8:00 when we ate. And then David cut the Redbud and seedling trees in pergola bed and mowed across road. Pleasant surprise. He sold TerraPro program and will install it tomorrow at St. Paris.

Chipmunk dug out the miniature rose from the pot with banana peels.
Gale and grandchildren brought Chinese food and also a blueberry pie from bake sale at Log Cabin where Gale was on duty all day. Left enough food for Susannah’s supper when she came from OSU Columbus about 8:00

Dave and Marilyn visited and brought two mangos- six yellow gazanias- and returned books I had loaned Dave. Delighted to find ‘The Little Bulbs’ by Elizabeth Lawrence & The Silent Meow- Paul Gallico (and a cat cile)- had missed them but forgotten Dave had them.
We toured Terradise Gardens and inspected progress on terrace steps reconstruction.
Emailed Robin Cook about photos that Marcia said Robin had told Joyce she was bringing her but never showed up. Robin told Grace she had photos but did not say she was bringing them to her because when she left home for Erie, Pennsylvania she didn’t even plan to come to Ohio.
I forwarded Robin’s email to Marcia by mail.
